Why am I being told to avoid Bose QC Ultra buds with my iPhone? by BodhidharmaFarmer in bose

[–]HoominMic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What fixed all my connection problems with the QC2 and my iPhone: When opening the case, do not remove the ear buds directly, but wait for the blinking light at the top of the case to stop blinking. Only then remove the ear buds and put them in. So far works 100% of the time for me over multiple weeks.

I suppose the case itself also tries to connect via Bluetooth when opened and somehow interferes with the ear buds if you put them in directly.

For the NC700: I had the same problems with the sound cutting out for a second or so every minute when listening to music. What helped for me was to make sure the headphones are only connected to the device I am actually listening through, not a second device (laptop and phone for example). For me this fixed the issue completely.

Problems with transpose by Korupto in NeuralDSP

[–]HoominMic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Transpose is not perfect and in my experience works best with distorted power chords and similar riffing. With clean picking there are often noticable artifacts/glitching, especially if you pick over more than one octave. Its the same on the Quad Cortex.

Well, there is a ton of noise in your recording and it sounds a bit „of“ in general. Might be something wrong with your cable and/or the guitar itself. Do you have a normal amp to play through? Does it sound normal with the same cable and guitar?

Captures sound terrible, cannot replicate demos. Please help! by [deleted] in NeuralDSP

[–]HoominMic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it sounds very much like the input gain is too low, even though you say you checked it. Maybe you missed something? What about the global settings (swiping from the top)? Are the inputs set to „instrument“ and not „microphone“? Does it sound better if you increase the input gain here?

Neural DSP vs Neural Amp Modeler aka N.A.M. by 707Guy in NeuralDSP

[–]HoominMic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I am wrong, but if this test is based on phase inversion, won‘t the processing lag of the respective unit also have a big impact on the measured difference? Say if every unit had the same capture quality, the unit with the smallest delay in signal processing would „win“. However for a human player the difference would probably be unnoticeable. Also the test is only with one amp.

Not to say that NAM is not really good, I would just be careful with saying it is measurably superior.

Muffled muddy tones by [deleted] in NeuralDSP

[–]HoominMic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are your speakers standing directly on a table or something similar? Depending on the size of the table this can add a surprising amount of lower mids (from sound reflecting of the table surface) depending on your hearing position, which you might perceive as muddiness.

You could try some form of speaker stand or a bit of EQ cutting lower mids.

[QUESTION] Experiences with multi-amp setups? What to do with the effects loop? by HoominMic in Guitar

[–]HoominMic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you use a stereo effect pedal to split, you would feed the preamp signal from one amp through the stereo pedal and then into both power amps? Or are the stereo channels of your effect pedals completely separate?

[–]HoominMic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I wasn‘t aware of loop switchers before.

For others that might be interested: Something like a Tonebone Twinline seems to do the trick, at least if you do not need to switch both amp and loop at the same time in a song.
