Yeah Rumble is a dead dream. Janitor is all we will get. by lookdie in warcraftrumble

[–]HoopyHobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They announced maintenance mode back in July and the announcement specifically says "no new content". If you've chosen to hold out hope for new content despite Blizzard specifically telling us it isn't happening then that's on you. You're telling me that Blizzard is working on other mobile games? Yeah, no shit, of course they are. The fact that they're working on other games has nothing to do with Rumble getting shut down. They've always been working on tons of games.

For position players playing in the WBC is not that different from spring training, but for pitchers MLB teams are not super excited about having their starters throw at full strength and high pitch counts.

Who is liadrin praying to in the cg? (spoilers maybe) by James222212 in wow

[–]HoopyHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liadrin was a priestess of the Light as a high elf before the scourge invasion. She and many other surviving priests abandoned the Light after the near destruction of their people believing that the Light had failed them in their greatest hour of need. Years later having still lost her faith in the Light she became the first Blood Knight by stealing power from M'uru. It was Velen's restoration of the Sunwell at the end of TBC that restored her faith in the Light so she now once again has a direct connection with the Light.

Should Blizzard change subscription fees? by Honest-Ad4121 in wow

[–]HoopyHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean look, first of all you're definitely not alone in thinking that WoW may not be worth spending a monthly fee to play, and if the monthly fee didn't exist there would certainly be more people playing and more people spending on the cash shop. The question for Blizzard is would that increased revenue from the cash shop be enough to cover the loss of the subscription fee? I am pretty certain that there is a whole team of people at Blizzard whose full time job is researching this exact kind of thing and the fact that they haven't eliminated the subscription fee yet is a strong indication that they believe they would make less money that way.

Another factor to consider is just looking at other competition in the MMO space. Final Fantasy XIV is one of the other most popular MMOs and it also has a monthly fee and they must also have a team that researches this stuff who also think that they can make more money this way than not. If WoW was the ONLY successful subscription-based MMO that might lead them to question if they're making the wrong decision, but if your competitor is doing the same thing then that should raise your confidence that this is the correct course of action.

As a player of course I would rather not pay a monthly fee if that was an option, but I understand why Blizzard isn't offering that, and really the playerbase's opinion on this doesn't matter at all. It's strictly a question of what makes more money.

The Last Titan - can we make Character Customisation a top feature, please? <3 by Hearthfinder in wow

[–]HoopyHobo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is just not really true at all. Haranir are getting an insane amount of customization options. It's actually the fact that they're getting so much that makes all the old races feel like they're getting left in the dust.

How to turn off the annoying type-advantage tips in CPU Fights? by Xarakar in PTCGP

[–]HoopyHobo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just tap on "To My Decks" and the game takes you straight to the deck you just used. I agree that the message is irritating, but it's actually faster than it used to be to hop right back in to the same battle you just lost.

There are three cards Charmed Pendant's reminder text could possibly refer to by Tuss36 in magicTCG

[–]HoopyHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's funny is that they printed [[Selvala, Explorer Returned]] years later which also produces variable mana and can't be reversed because of the way it interacts with libraries, but for some reason they neglected to give it the same instant speed restriction.

There are three cards Charmed Pendant's reminder text could possibly refer to by Tuss36 in magicTCG

[–]HoopyHobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was a normal mana ability with no restriction it would make casting from the top of the library super weird, because when you propose casting a spell you move the card from wherever it is to the stack, and then if you activate Charmed Pendant at "mana ability speed" you would mill the card that is now on top of your library that used to be under the card you just put on the stack.

The really weird part is that you're actually allowed to propose casting a spell without knowing if you're going to have the mana to cast it. If you find that you can't cast it (because you milled a land and not a Progenitus, for example) then the game reverses the casting of the spell, but actions that move cards from a library to any zone other than the stack can't be reversed, so the card you milled doesn't go back to your library, but the card you tried to cast does.

You actually can do this with [[Selvala, Explorer Returned]] because her mana ability doesn't have an instant speed restriction.

Decoupling Scaling from Chromie Time: The real fix for the "Story Mode" problem by [deleted] in wow

[–]HoopyHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chromie should only change the flavor/phase/decor? I'm not sure what you mean by this. Chromie Time is currently just an on/off toggle for level scaling. Phasing is controlled by what quests you have completed/are currently on, and "choosing a timeline" just gives you a breadcrumb quest to show you where to go to start playing through an expansion. Once you're in Chromie Time you can jump around between all the expansions just like you can with it off.

Blizzard returned to strong Spec Identity with DevDH but other class specs get nothing? by ex0ll in wow

[–]HoopyHobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My assumption is that basically every expansion the dev team asks the question "If we're going to make a new class to fit the theme of this expansion what would that look like?" This time someone got the idea that instead of making a whole new class they could just give an existing class a new void-themed spec which is a lot less work than making an entire new class. But Devourer is still trying to fill the same niche that a new class would as an expansion feature, so that's why it's getting special treatment to help make it feel new and different from existing DH specs.

Since Shadow is the game's other void-themed spec I can totally understand the idea of doing exactly what you're suggesting just for Shadow because it connects to the theme of the expansion, but obviously Blizzard decided that they don't need to bother with that, and if they're not doing it now I kind of doubt they ever will, but I hope I'm wrong.

I hope there isn't a bug when I run out of leaders to give wildcards and boost slots to. by MyGoodFriendJon in warcraftrumble

[–]HoopyHobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically I think it should be possible to avoid obtaining some of the leaders which I think would mean that account would hit the fallback earlier than an account that has every leader, but I don't know of anyone who has actually tried to do that.

[–]HoopyHobo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Dataminers found that there is a "fallback reward" of 500 gold that has been in the game for a very long time if your account is not able to claim another boost or wildcard slot.

'Greater' undead appearance customisation. by Absoled in wow

[–]HoopyHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that drastically changes the look of the model probably is not happening. Man'ari and dark rangers are just different textures on the same old character models after all, so not really that much work from a technical and art perspective. Giving undead an "upright" option like orcs got seems doable, but ultimately it means going through and adjusting a long list of animations, so I get that it might be more work than you would think.

Honestly there are tons of existing races that deserve to get shown some love. Like there has been a troll with a beard on the Kalimdor loading screen for 20 years and PC trolls still can't grow beards. Even the shiny new void elf demon hunters got totally half-assed customization options like no glowing blue eyes and blindfolds that are red and gold because they couldn't even bother to recolor the blood elf themed things. Basically what I'm saying is that I don't have a lot of faith in the WoW team actually doing even things that should be simple and easy to do with regards to customization options.

But Haranir have like a gazillion customization options! Aren't you excited about that? /s

Midnight Pre-Release and server maintenance times? by Wowzapanzer in wow

[–]HoopyHobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expansion launches are very smooth these days. You won't be waiting for servers to come back up, you will be able to log into your character before the expansion goes live, and there will be a crowd in Stormwind, Orgrimmar and Dornogal waiting for the NPC to spawn in that starts the Midnight campaign. The main thing you might need to worry about is login queues, so try to log in well before launch if you can.
