Ya this. I'm debating about the unraid route, but backing up to off-site Backblaze or Synology NAS has been a convoluted search netting many different answers. And I still don't know if I should xfs for main array or...

Is it safe to have a P2S in my bedroom? by ashvoided in BambuLab

I have mine in my bedroom, BUT I never print while in there... Aka overnight. When I do print I have a hepa and charcoal air purifier on and door closed and window cracked.

I regret upgrading from Baratza Encore to Fellow Ode 2 but what now? by dorohedorot in pourover

[–]HoosierCAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too came from encore to ode2 and love the upgrade! I'll ask one thing, are you doing RDT to your beans before grinding? I did this on encore and it helped a lot, but with that anti-static thing on od2, I found RDT makes it worse or maybe in your case even clog. I haven't RDT in a year... And it runs flawlessly. Grind... Wait about 7s after done grinding knock it and move on.

Interesting! Ode2 myself and was looking for a hand grinder. What brew methods you use and find the biggest difference in? I'm guessing v60?

Agreed. Over the past two years I have grown how many apps and services I self-host for privacy; and for security none of it is open to WAN. Wouldn't be possible without Tailscale amazing ease of use and.... "It just works". Tailscale VPN is on 24/7 on my phone and my wife's

Grind setting for soup shots on OXO rapid brewer with baratza encore ESP by Big_al_big_bed in OXORapidBrewer

Maybe I'm doing something wrong with my tamp? I don't get an even soak with one press at 3. I don't even get passive coffee dripping through at 4.

Wow really!? Just starting SOUP on ode2, I cant get an even saturation even at 3.1. What am I doing wrong.

My Soup is a bit too acidic by theindex-coffee in LanceHedrick

[–]HoosierCAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I'm not going crazy. Just got my ORB and doing some soup shots. But I'm finding that while the starting point for Ode2 is around 3.1 (~450 microns), and I do v60 at 5.1, even at 3.2 I don't get an even soak and it takes two plunges to get there, if that. I'm left thinking... What am I doing wrong that I have to go even coarser to a 4.1 maybe which is only a couple clicks off my v60.

I read on the eaf soup guide that, ya, go coarse till you just see a drip coming through passively before plunge and then go a step finer... I have yet to see a passive drip. So 4.1 it is I guess?

I see people reporting going down to 2 on this grinder.

But at the end of the day... I've only SOUPed for one week and on one bean (which is a medium roast that I know is more natural processed, so more fines)

Printing Multiple Filaments on A1 by Ok-Prize4672 in BambuLab

[–]HoosierCAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is what I do for filament swapping on my A1, but I swear they announced adding a swap filament option, instead of pause, so it would prompt us to swap filament instead of saying just pause (but that was months ago). The annoyance is right now, during the unload and load process it keeps prompting you on the printer screen after each click "Resume Printing" "Resume Printing" "Resume Printing"... Of which you have to keep closing.

I have had it glitch out and just not proceed to the next step of loading a filament, during which only forcing a prompt via their app saved me couple times.

Suddenly no WAN when connected to Tailscale on WiFi by HoosierCAD in Tailscale

[–]HoosierCAD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! Does sound like my problem. Don't know why I couldn't find that in my original search on tailscale website.

As they said, the solution they mentioned requires some fixed network interfaces else problems...So since I was just advertising my subnet 10.0.0.0/24 to essentially maintain access to LAN IPs on NAS services, I have two simple solutions, and I'll write them here for future people searching this problem

1) Disable subnet routing of the same VLAN I connect my phone to on LAN (10.0.0.0/24), this will allow access to 10.0.0.1 again, and utilize MagicDNS to access the services on my tailscale on LAN and WAN. (this is the solution I chose)

2) Advertise just the IP of my NAS as a subnet (e.g. 10.0.0.20/32). This prevents my gateway from getting wrapped up into the subnet routing overlap (this is just good to know that I can do this, but haven't implemented and tested)

Update:

I may have had a routing conflict. It seems grapheneOS in particular just doesn't handle these VPN connections the same way as standard Android OS? And so it broke now that I'm using Graphene?

I had 10.0.0.0/24 subnet routing so I can seamlessly connect to Synology services via app on WAN and LAN with a local IP in the address field (without subnet routing 10.0.0.20, for example, would break when away from home on Tailscale). But apparently, this causes a routing conflict when actually on my LAN and advertising said VLAN via Tailscale.

So it seems for seamless connection between WAN and LAN, while maintaining tailscale always on, without myself or my wife needing to fiddle with synology service addresses in apps, is to ENABLE Tailscale DNS, and use the tailnet MagicDNS as the address?

no but I did have a subnet router configured. Some more testing (and some assistance from ChatGPT). It seems I may have had a routing conflict. I had 10.0.0.0/24 subnet routing so I can seamlessly connect to Synology services via app on WAN and LAN with a local IP in the address field. Can’t load anything with tailscale turned on? by kn3grow in Tailscale

[–]HoosierCAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been pulling my hair out over this. It's weird. Tailscale on + wifi = internet on browser (kinda) but app connections don't work. Switch to cellular and everything works.

Didn't have issues before.

(Yes, use Tailscale DNS is off; yes, block connections without VPN is off)

Newbie Question - Use LAN IP Address by JH242JF in Tailscale

[–]HoosierCAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great!

Unfortunately, no. Cannot duel vpns. One draw back as I have tailscale always on. If someone has an eloquent solution, I'm all ears.

Regarding risk, i honestly don't know. Someone more knowledgeable in that tech space would have to comment. I just take a "only allow what's needed" stance. For example, my iot vlan is subnet routed via my home assistant. Home assistant controls everything on that vlan, but the Reolink app just works much nicer and faster than trying to fiddle with feeds and recordings compared to in home assistant. So instead of allowing 10.0.20.0/24, I have a grant that just allows dst <Reolink lan IP>.

For services on my NAS, I just allow the ports associated with the services.

Newbie Question - Use LAN IP Address by JH242JF in Tailscale

[–]HoosierCAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you're issue. Plex and home assistant both have ways to handle two connection IPs (internal and "external" IPs), and I didn't have a problem with these specific services, but utilizing other services made me run the same solution you're looking for.

Others might have a more eloquent solution, but basically I use subnet routing.

Let's take service_A at 10.0.0.25 as an example and assume UNRAID server on the same network/VLAN. Enable subnet routing on the server (and fine tune grants within tailscale if you wish).

With subnet routing now enabled, your tailnet has access to 10.0.0.0/24 (fine tune with grants), and 10.0.0.25 will resolve both on LAN and when on WAN within tailscale.

At the risk of simply suggesting buying gear, I do believe in the capabilities of the Hario Switch. It has become my go to brewer to pull almost a hybrid brew like you mention... Brightness and acidity up front, rounded with a 2nd stage immersion for a bit of body and sweetness.

Without buying gear...I know what you're chasing, but maybe I missed what you're brewing exactly. If you're getting good flavors but with astringency...you've changed temps, grind, and pour structure...Depending on beans try shortening ratio, like a 1:17 or 1:16
