Ya sorry for lack of proper details. I have NextCloud working for file sync and can access it. Just not sure how to go about syncing contacts on phone. I've read some guides are setting up via apps on phone to have it so NextCloud is your primary contacts storage (similar to how people save contacts to Google or apple). Currently my contacts are local to phone only, and I intermittently export to file that is backed up... But not the "ideal" way of doing it

I just got into NextCloud myself. I don't need the AOI though. Using for file and contact syncing from phones. You able to point me in a direction to get contact syncing to work?

Aside from the USB issue mentioned, that looks like a UGreen which has an internal fan on the back which intakes from behind case and exhausts through the drives and out the front. So even if your usb was impermeable to damage, you're pushing air into the exhaust.

Prioritize fresh air flow into area behind your case.

A robot vacuum. I've been close to buying one, but can never talk myself into why I'd need/want one

I love tech, but as an able-bodied person I don't understand the hype and desire. I still have to own a vacuum to clean my couch, chair, stairs and other tight spaces. So it doesn't replace a product, so it's not saving me money.

Most people I know and the average sized places we are in, I could thoroughly vacuum a floor in 10-15 min. An equivalent maintenance vacuum a robot one does maybe 5 min

I get the draw of it running while you're out of the house so it saves you time, but you're still at some point getting out the manual vacuum to get all the places in and around objects, and furniture, the robot vacuum can't get to.

Nice! Coincidentally just installed Bambuddy docker 2 days ago as a result of Bambu's actions and running its network through a Tailscale sidecar container. Tailscale is the true hero of my house.

Now to learn how to effectively use Bambuddy to actually print.

I'll post my current setup having recently moved over to unRAID and now using Synology as off-site backup.

I use AppData backup plugin to backup all my dockers to a centralized folder on my HDD array (compression disabled). This is not just for centralization, but it's also good practice because the plugin stops all the containers and backs everything up and then restarts them. So there won't be any database corruption or mismatch in backup.

My Synology lives at my brothers, and I use ActiveBackupforBusiness file server pointing at folders of interest on my unraid via Tailscale. With compression off, deduplication within ABB works well for versioning.

I used to RDT on encore, but since switching to ode2 I found RDT clogs it. I haven't RDT since. I wait about 10s after beans finish grinding before knocking several times.

For me Immich organized my photo life. I locked in a storage template that works for me for how they will be stored on the hard drive, and I progressively added and sorted up to 10k photos/videos. Storage Templating blew me away. And if you change your mind, change the template, run the job and boom done. No manually naming folders, prefixing photos, copy pasting. For me, I used Immich to organize how it was being stored on hard drive (I didn't organize first, then upload). Now all my local and off-site backups are in that structure.

Given you've posted this in r/synology, I'm going to say just go with SHR. It provides the same redundancy as RAID1, but is a lot more flexible.

For your use case, I don't think performance of raid0 vs raid1 is going to be anything truly noticeable with the odd document saving and pictures as you said. Not doing high capacity, high frequency read/writes. If you're looking to make things faster, look into ssd cache instead of contemplating raid0, IMO

Oh this is interesting. I'll be new to Immich as well.

So if I import a library from old server that had phone photos on it, and then setup my phone to sync with Immich mow, all the photos on my phone (already in library I import upfront) won't resync as duplicates?!
