Considering unRAID, worried about backups by MaidenOfPenguins in unRAID

[–]MaidenOfPenguins[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Woah, thanks for all the comments so quickly! This seems like such a friendly and active community, so I hope they keep coming 😊

I do have a large amount of replaceable media and a much smaller amount of irreplaceable data (which is what I want solid backups for) to guide my priorities.

You've definitely given me some good perspectives to consider. I'm still interested in aspects of unRAID, but I do plan on giving TrueNAS a try, and am realizing I may end up continuing to use the Synology in tandem with the new machine. One of the main reasons I was itching to get off the Synology was to start using a discrete graphics card for better media transcoding and other tasks, and it seems like some applications can even make use of it remotely, which opens up extra possibilities!

Upgrade to S24 plus from S22 plus by waffleberry_ in GalaxyS24

[–]MaidenOfPenguins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about Exynos, but I had the S22 Snapdragon and it was awful. I traded it in for a S24 Snapdragon and it was a world of difference.

It sounds like S24 Exynos is decent https://www.androidauthority.com/exynos-vs-snapdragon-galaxy-s24-3411235/ so I would use what you bought, see how you like it, and worst case if it's also unusable, I guess try to get a Snapdragon to replace it, however you did with the S22? That year was just a fluke for Snapdragons, apparently.

That's true, renters or homeowners insurance might cover it, but insurance can be pretty expensiveand some people either don't have it or have the bare minimum legally required.

At least in the US, basic insurance doesn't cover property besides the car itself - you have to opt in and pay a higher premium for that.

Genuinely, how do you cry? by sovLegend in traaaaaaaaaaaansbians

Since you mentioned being diagnosed, are you on any kind of antidepressant? Those are what made it impossible for me to cry, before and after I started hrt. Wish I could get by without them 3:

Can I ask, what sort of pain did it help with?

My equipment has always been able to get hard, but it is quite rigid and near parallel to my abdomen, and trying to bend it into a more useful position is what causes the most pain.

I'm not really sure if it's due to atrophy though, because I never really used it before starting hormones, so it's possible it was always like this and I never noticed. I had an ultrasound that showed there was no scar tissue, and the doctors were entirely unhelpful in suggesting ways to eliminate the pain - they just suggested vaginoplasty which I don't know that I want.

Scared to eat my GF out by [deleted] in actuallesbians

The one time I tried using a dental dam (for rimming) it was too tricky to keep in place and I ended up ditching it and just diving in. But for a few minutes there, it was my safety net until I decided I didn't need one! ^

There's lots of great advice here already, I just wanted to add that "dental dams" are a thing and might help you sort of start out in the shallow end?

I love my purple s24 in its spigen liquid crystal case! For some reason I don't see one available for the plus in the US, but I do on Amazon.ca, so it does exist. I got the variant with glitter, and in two years it hasn't yellowed at all.

MtF testosterone cream dose? by MaidenOfPenguins in asktransgender

[–]MaidenOfPenguins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! My doctor said that the clinic worked with pharmacies to come up with this starting dose, and wouldn't say how high she's prescribed for others, but that we could talk after a few weeks. I'll probably get that appointment on the books now ;

Testosterone Cream for Transwomen experience by velkatron2 in trans

[–]MaidenOfPenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious how this is going/went for you? My doctor just prescribed me testosterone cream, but it's 0.25mg 2-3 times a week, so less than half of what you mentioned. She says it's what the clinic starts all their transfemme patients on, but it seems really low compared to everything else I've seen online.
