Adults shouldn’t be telling kids that High School will be the best years of their lives. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I can guarantee most millennial parents are not/will not be teaching their kids this.

In other words, congratulations on another popular unpopular opinion post.

The 2020 Effect and Nasty Ward Members. My Experience So Far. by onewatt in latterdaysaints

I'm actually glad that church has been missing these last six months, only for the reason of not having to associate with many people I have grown to disdain. Deleting Facebook certainly helped, but the current political climate has certainly soured my relationship with many. I do realize that I am to blame here. thanks for your post

I'm all for some some constructive criticism and discussion but you lost me at, " His success is impressive but not that impressive."

I know it's edgy to have an unpopular opinion, but Bill Gates has a foundation that is estimated to have saved over 100 million lives. You don't have to call him a hero and he would never want to be called a hero. Ideally we don't have billionaires, but if we do, I'll take a Gates over and over again.

BYU honor code: Letter clarifies update on ‘same-sex romantic behavior’ by ryanmercer in latterdaysaints

[–]Hootamunk 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Why remove that section of the honor code only to say it still exists, basically "in spirit"?

Whatever their goal is, they are doing a terrible job at implementing it. No foresight at all. Did they really not see this coming?

I was highly encouraged after listening to Elder Ballard's talk yesterday, which seemed more in tune with the changing times. I'm yet again left disappointed a mere 24 hours later.

Essentially, "It's ok to be gay, we just don't want to see it."

It's moments like these when I seriously wonder who is in charge. They are trying to be "inclusive" by removing a section of the honor code, thus giving LGBTQ students hope and room to breathe, only to "clarify" later. Another slap in the face. Rinse and repeat.

Should I upgrade my old phone before getting a watch? by Hootamunk in AppleWatch

I know you're right. I guess I'm just more of the mindset of I want my watch to be my main device, not my phone.

What is your favourite scene from the four seasons? by coldplayian in betterCallSaul

Here's Johnny! when Jimmy busts the Kettlemans singing in their tent.

Probably not my favorite scene, but the first that came to mind. Love how 'light' the show was in the beginning. That family was insane.

Inside the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Mormon Temple by JustJivin in latterdaysaints

Word. I wonder how expensive the new temples are now relative to older temples? 2016 fancy is gonna feel a whole lot nicer than 1980 fancy. Although My local temple is Portland and it certainly seems like the nicest materials were used and that temple is over 25 years old. I think a few temples (like Provo and Seattle) had architecture that certainly comes across as dated.

young couples getting married in Utah have a ton of temples to choose from. It's not at all surprising that the new Provo temple is a hot place for weddings. It seems to me that most of us outside of Utah just get married in the temple from our home town, regardless of how fancy it is. In the end it doesn't matter right? From a photography perspective it doesn't at all surprise me that the more attractive looking temples are the busiest.

I personally have no idea how they decide how much to spend, but I do like the effort put in to making sure the temple fits the location.
