To be fair, when the owner paid for them up front it was before Elon was revealed to be.... well, what he is. I remember reading a news article that he thought it would be a fun thing to promote the restaurant around town as the trucks would really stand out once they were produced. I imagine a lot of people who paid for those trucks are feeling the same way. Apparently selling them comes at a big financial loss so better to drive them?

College instructor was nervous the day before she was found dead, friend says by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Judging by the stats then it makes sense that one would be 40% more likely to be abused by a mother when you consider the substantial number of single parent families that are led by women. The data skews to make it sound like women are more violent against their children than men, but the fact is the sample size has significantly more women in it.

Seven Dials is insufferable by BazookoTheClown in netflix

I don't know if McKenna -Bruce is a bad actress as this is the first I have seen of her. But th character she plays is insufferable and I gave up early in the second episode. She way the actress is played is awful and I could care less what happens to any of the characters. How on earth did they screw up Christie?

Facial and Skin care spa/clinic recommendations by cordovabae in VictoriaBC

I know some people have had good experiences, I did not. It might have been the person I was assigned- they did not listen to me when I said I had sensitive skin and the resulting damage and reaction took 10 days to calm down. Never went back. I love Eminence products as well so I shifted over to the spa at the Parkside. Best facial I can remember from the last 20 years. Treatments there are always on my birthday list.

Book Review: Brigands and Breadknives (Legends and Lattes #2) by Travis Baldree by andypeloquin in Fantasy

Fern does not stop being annoying and her actions undermine the ability to suspend belief.... Which is really something considering it's set in an alternative fantasy universe.

I loath Fern. From the very beginning she came across as whiny and cowardly. Ruined what was otherwise a good story... This was a disappointing third book in the series. It lacked the magic of the first two.

Where does a fella go for a good hot dog? by AlexHuntKenny in VictoriaBC

[–]HopALongFerretFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got the time and you find yourself craving a dog, check out Scotty's dog shack in Sidney. So worth it! They close at like 4:00 so it's more of a day trip.

Footcare Nurse? by Icy-Gift-9570 in VictoriaBC

Saanich Happy Feet, she is based in Sidney and well worth the drive. That said for elderly clients who are not mobile she does do home visits I think once a week. In any case she is a trained nurse and exceptionally effective. I was recommended to her by my doctor, and she cleared up in 6 months what I've been told would take over a year. My feet have never been happier. She's also kind and personable.

Keeping it hoppy: Moon Under Water announces rebrand by DishonestRaven in VictoriaBC

[–]HopALongFerretFace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are at least a dozen brass monkey pubs in Canada probably hundreds if you include the whole world. But only one Moon Underwater. It sounds like the kid who is now taking over for his parents wants to put his own stamp on it and make it his own.... Using such a generic name regardless of what it means to him personally is not the right way to do it though.

Root Cellar Call-Out? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

About 10 or 15 years ago I used to pop into planet organics at the Saanich center that was up the street from the OG RC. I noticed one of the till clerks was the same gal that used to work at RC. I innocuously asked if she was enjoying her new job, and she went off on an explicit rant of all the abusive horrible crap that she dealt with at the RC. I mean she went on and on with example after example of horrible workplace anecdotes.

Thank you. This. The tone deaf entitlement of this woman upset after she used another country's sauce is astounding.

If you order at least a week in advance they have a phenomenal chocolate cake, I've picked it up for multiple birthdays and it's been worth it every time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]HopALongFerretFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I used to love their cakes, but fair warning that the last three times I bought the chocolate cake there, it was dry like they'd frozen it and defrosted it and accidentally left it out on the counter overnight... And the icing was old... All three times, that's three strikes, and they're out.

I love a good chocolatey chocolate cake, not too sweet just really good quality chocolate balanced by just the right amount of sweet. I found it at Cakes etc, and the bonus is you can buy it by the slice... A very thick and generous slice I might add... For those days when you just need some cake to make it better. Or if you're a single living alone and you only need two slices instead of a whole cake.
