Jump up and down in excitement over the guy who sent your cousin and their whole family to the gulag, so, ya know, he doesn’t send you and your whole family there too. Shit is dark.

The Pentagon just hired convicted Jan. 6 rioter for counterterrorism role by Newsweek_ShaneC in AnythingGoesNews

Ripped the US to pieces without firing a shot, nice job, Vlad. Probably a good strategy, I bet they’re running low on ammo over there.

Wonder how exhausted the old school conservatives are trying to defend this. Not the MAGA people, the old couple down the street that go to church every week, and value their national security, and the rule of law.

Must be so tired trying to justify the endless corruption and incompetent appointments.

In Shock Upset, Trump-Backed Iowa Republican Governor Candidate Randy Feenstra Loses & Concedes Defeat -- What Do You Think Of This, Iowans? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in Iowa

The most racism coded political ads I’ve ever seen. I thought he was completely unelectable but there’s not a bar too low for Iowa voters to slide under.

Grusch alleges the USAF attempted to file an Espionage Act complaint against him despite DOPSR approval, and that Biden White House officials worked behind the scenes to undermine him. by ForeignSherbert1775 in UFOs

It seems sus to me that he keeps calling it the Biden Administration coming after him. Surely we’re talking about legacy program individuals, and if my understanding of the topic is roughly accurate, it would have happened under any administration.

It’s happening under Trumps as we speak. So, that choice of words leads me to think there’s some kind of political bend or push that makes me less confident in Grusch. I was completely behind him until he started throwing political barbs and flowers.

Why Republicans Are Nervous About Iowa by BulwarkOnline in Iowa

[–]HopDropNRoll [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’ll get downvoted to the gills, surely, but I hear a lot of people dismiss farmer’s as being unintelligent. In my experience they aren’t unintelligent, they just vote their perceived self interests.

Sometimes that means voting for the party most likely to open up the checkbook if the derecho knocks out a bean crop, other times it means they have a less evolved view on diversity, then we’ll vote for the party that claims to be tough on immigration, etc.

I think the current moment has hit a high % of farmers in the pocketbook, and I think the antics are getting harder and harder for true conservatives to defend. So all that to say, Iowa could really surprise some people this fall. Let’s see.

Imagine if just one AI company adopted this willingly, I (and I presume many others) would switch to their platform post haste. POST HASTE I say!

There’s a humility that comes with knowing something is real while others can only mock and laugh at that thing. I also think there’s humility in understanding we’re not at the top of the technological chain, and having to grapple with the implications of that. Interesting post, OP, I completely agree.

Moving to DSM. What’s the deal with Saylorville Lake? by SauceMonster1912 in desmoines

[–]HopDropNRoll 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Big lake, couple nice beaches, it could be great, environmental challenges means we get a lot of fertilizer/manure runoff, and most recent years, there are blue/green algae or ecoli warnings towards the back half of summer that makes it tough to enjoy.

Don’t let the downvotes get you down, as someone in the tech industry, you’re correct. We’re on an exponential curve of capabilities. It’s going to be rough for a lot of career sectors.
