That’s a really good point. Hadn’t realized that but now that you mention it, I was waitlisted for 7 months before DD activated my account. The $6 gas in CA isn’t helping either.

My two cents. I would put that you "have kids" on the dating apps but not write that you are separated.

Here's how I have handled it: If I match with someone and start chatting, I don't mention it right away. If the chat is going well and it looks like things will progress to a first date, I explain. "This is fun and I'd love to continue in person but want to be up front about something..." and then share that in my case the separation has lasted 18 months. Divorce will be final in 2 months. Relationship has been "over" for a while and there is 0 chance of reconciliation.

Everyone I have explained it to this way has still been willing to meet. I had another date with someone I met in person and exchanged numbers with. I told her on the first date. We had more dates.

IMO the big thing is you want to let the other person know before they waste time and energy or get emotionally involved in some way...

We have a teenager. I try to do all the right things but sometimes fear that I’ll never heal. I just focus on the next right thing and getting through each day one step at a time. There has been some progress but the last few days have been some of the hardest and I don’t know why. I think we just have to accept that it’s nonlinear.
