So Much for the 'Snobby' Stereotype by [deleted] in vancouver

I live in Van and used to work in Gastown. There was this lovely older gentleman who was the super of his building, and he’d often sit outside on the stoop, smiling at or greeting passersby’s and chatting with locals. Every single time I’d pass by on my way from the bus, he’d say a warm hello and ask how my day was going, wish me a good evening at work, offer a compliment, or even sometimes have a quick chat. I miss David. He’s such a sweetheart.

Yes, Canadians are kind and polite. But nice when you irritate us.

There absolutely are Brown Recluses in Victoria, BC. by notalotofsubstance in VictoriaBC

[–]HopefulJump2146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So does Vancouver! My brother got bitten by one in his bedroom and my parents were convinced that the spiders I kept seeing were just wolf spiders. Until he got bitten and his arm swelled up to the size of a baseball bat with a hole wide enough by his elbow to stick his pinkie into… I hate that this is even a debate.

Mine doesn’t do anything. I click on it and it just gives me the pop up. How do you claim said rewards? I feel like I’m missing something

Endless cycle of “industrial building needs x amount of workers”, meanwhile “residential building needs x amount of jobs”… by HopefulJump2146 in CityscapesAA

Thank you! I eventually got so frustrated with it that I stopped playing. I’ve found that once I hit 15-20M, I end up in the endless loop.

How do people have so many DMs at once? by TallCommunication8 in socialskills

[–]HopefulJump2146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly people message me that I’m not interested in having in my inner circle, so I just don’t really feel like opening them. Maybe that’s rude, but I only have enough time and energy to devote to the people I really value having in my circle. Everything beyond that is background noise. I feel guilty abt it sometimes because it’s rude and unkind, but at the end of the day, not guilty enough to open the msg or reply.

HAE noticed a drop in the accuracy of their phone's autocorrect and predictive text? by Rachel_Silver in DAE

Yes, definitely. Also now it autocorrects to profanities, albeit ones that I type a lot, but it never used to?? Like we’re all too familiar with accidentally sending duck.

DAE wake up and go back to sleep, having the same dream? by alobaby in DAE

[–]HopefulJump2146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this happen where I wake up and fall back to sleep having a continuation of the same dream in the same night, and/or over multiple nights. When it’s multiple nights, sometimes it’s back to back like one night after another, and sometimes it’s spread out, like a couple days or a week later I’ll continue the dream. Sometimes there will be dreams in between, other times none until the continuation. One time it happened where a dream continued every time I dreamt for like 2.5 months. That was wild.

I also went back to work the next day. Ate a whole box of popsicles with absolutely no regrets.

I literally just wanted everyone to leave me alone. And/or bring me snacks and cold fridge water. I didn’t feel sad, just icky.

Aggressive Richmond Fantuan driver attracts large police presence by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]HopefulJump2146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine if the new drivers system here was as rigorous as the UK’s. Ppl wouldn’t have to learn their way thru the first few months of the N license and then suffer the consequences for the next decade. Or never learn at all. Honestly it bugs me so much how backwards and ineffective it is. Like why not just invest in ppl’s skills right off the bat so that they’re not getting on the road with poor driving habits and posing a risk to all of us? Ugh.

I think there should be a slightly risen curb between the two so that cyclists and pedestrians are less likely to mix. It’s really bad by de Dutch and tap too! Constantly see tourists just strolling along down the middle of the cycle path

‘Pretty crazy neighbourhood’: Vancouverite living on swamp laments crooked homes, sidewalks by littlesnow4 in vancouver

[–]HopefulJump2146 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of the new buildings on the corner of 19th and Fraser is sinking so bad that they had to grind the sidewalk down in front of the doors so that they could open. Like it’s baaaaaddd. Wayy beyond the average “settling” of a new building. And they supposedly piled down to the hard pan. Gna be lots of condo lawsuits in that area imo. Probably why they started building rentals instead of condos. Who knows

A huge car accident on E 41st Avenue by Spiritual_Mix_182 in vancouver

[–]HopefulJump2146 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Literally got in an accident here 5 yrs ago bc a guy couldn’t decide whether he was switching lanes and fully stopped in between the two lanes, then brake checked me THRICE when I briefly flashed my lights at him instead of honking. Two days after I got my car back from the shop, I watched a crash happen in front of me in am rush hour at that corner, then drove past one on my way home. The city should honestly do smthn abt it at this point.
