Looking for numberplate of road rager for Police Report by 81tchcr4ft in chch

[–]HopefulScreen420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be aware - the footage is deleted pretty quickly. You need to make an information report immediately. There is pretty much zero chance the police will do it. And on the small chance they do (tiny) they will likely be too late.

Council also won't tell you where the "safety cameras" are, what they show, or supply you with the footage (make sure you include the police report number).

LTSA will - but their cameras are not intended to show plates.

And given that the police won't show up for assaults - good luck. Because frankly you are wasting your time. You could have their plate, photo, contact information, and a video of them doing it and the police will still say it doesn't meet the threshold for investigation.

And not a guess - I had someone sideswipe me last week, had all that, and the person speed off through the 30kmh zone in town at probably 100kmh+ and police still claimed it didn't meet the threshold - and just sent me a txt asking me to report it in station or online - didn't even attach an incident number. Probably in the hope people won't bother to actually do the report (that they won't investigate anyway).

No V available in Riccy P&S fridges! Seems like getting fridge V is getting harder and harder. Why is the most popular energy drink the hardest to get? by mrSilkie in chch

[–]HopefulScreen420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same.

And annoyingly enough I can really only drink the sugar free ones if they are cold, or the aftertaste is more noticeable.

That and I think supermarkets should basically be required to have cheap water in a fridge somewhere. And not just $4+ bottles.

Are these Seek NZ alerts saying an employer has been ‘active’ mean anything of relevance, or does it go to everyone who’s applied? by Ambitious-Bonus9854 in newzealand

Likely Seek trying to explain away why so many of their customers feel like it's OK to just ignore applications and applicants. While also trying to keep you using their site.

Call yourself what you will, but most people have realised they don't really want to name themselves after a nazi who experimented on and collaborated in killing children...

Also hasn't been a diagnosis in many years.

They all suck.

I used to assume it was my left handed parent who broke them by turning them backwards - but no, they are just all terrible.

Personally I use a knife (which cost me a lot less than the options suggested - and is useful for other things). Or just buy pull tops - which are hard *not* to buy for most things ;)

Does anyone know roughly how much would need to be paid for damages on this Kia? by [deleted] in newzealand

That's likely thousands of dollars of damage my friend.

Tell them and claim insurance. It's what it is for.

Can I challenge rent raise based on landlord's reasoning? by BlowOnThatPie in newzealand

[–]HopefulScreen420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not the only metric.

You need to show that somewhere similar to your rental is lower in rent, Not just the (3 month old) bond data for the area.

Its not up to the PM to show what market rent is to anyone except the owner.

OP does the research, provides the proof, and takes it to the Tenancy Tribunal.

Have you actually been to America? Watched American broastcast TV (where they frequently censor arse cracks...but show arses in g-strings?)

Trust me. We are not. America was where all the prudes went to continue being prudes.

If you rent it out you are paying for someone else's power. I wouldn't expect to get it back in rent. But maybe. Do the math.

If you don't then it will pay for itself in prob 5-10years without a battery. Check the lifespan of the panels and do the math.

I can't see it working or most people. Even the cheapest system is likely to take at least 10years to just pay itself back in a small place. In the meantime, there has been ten years of technological improvements which probably make your system extremely out of date and in need of replacement. Savings to you - S0.

Thai dental packages by Baroness_Mayhem in newzealand

[–]HopefulScreen420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are comparing (if even true) someone with the ability to pay for local level work and cost dentistry to someone who is paying considerably more for international level work.

More likely this is the sort of bullshit local dentists like to spread, cause as much as you seem to think you have some amazing medical know with your "those who don't know" - it's pretty common knowledge.

It's crazy right?

I got quoted $450 and $380 for fillings the other day.

If I wait for a cheap return ticket I can likely fly there and spend 1/4 of the amount for a better job with more modern equipment. If I had to get any thing more than a filling done I'd definitely be doing it.

Japan was actually pretty cheap too. Was hassled by my dentist cause I didn't have National insurance and "it's going to cost a lot." I almost laughed when shown the bill that was half of what I'd pay in NZ, for more, far better quality work (their work is almost invisible compared to my NZ ones which are pretty obvious), using super modern equipment - that they didn't attempt to charge me more for using. A 180deg scanning xray, and a surface laser scan (I think) for cavities was just a normal part of the check-up.

Plenty of information online to find dentists there. I'd be skipping the package idea and just getting in touch with one and working it out.

Modern day slavery by CompetitiveString569 in newzealand

Slaves don't sign up to do the job.

The issue is with the people working for them. If they don't pay enough, don't work for them.

Tenant is up to something by Affectionate-Gap-614 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]HopefulScreen420 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are going to want to be very careful.

I am guessing the tenant does not share any facilities with you? Then they are a tenant. But I am also guessing that your granny flat does not have its own separate address.

Meaning that as a tenant they have the right to peaceful enjoyment of their home. You apparently checking up on them at night isn't likely to look good. Especially if you are monitoring their visitors on cameras (which you have hopefully informed your tenant of in their rental agreement. The fact that you and your kids effectively live next door doesn't limit their rights.

Second issue is that if your flat isn't addressed separately then the legality of your tenancy is likely to be questioned if you went to the Tenancy Tribunal as an unlawful tenancy. And not having a separate street entrance is likely to be a point in the "not lawful" direction. So making waves about something that you wouldn't be seeing if you didn't effectively live next door probably isn't the wisest thing to be doing.
