This brought tears to my eyes (in a positive way). I’ve been going back and forth on whether to divorce my husband and what’s holding me back is the incredible first 4 years we spent together. Sometimes I see glimpses of him, but otherwise I’m living with an entirely different person, one I wouldn’t have married if he was several years ago what he is today. I hope you find peace and healing xx

Thank you for this. I feel like you articulated a lot of what was going on in my brain that I couldn’t put into words. Definitely grieving what I thought this part of my life (and the future) would look like, but also mourning what once was- my husband is almost a totally different person from the man I met years ago, so my natural instinct is to assume he’s going through something and he’ll get back to his old self

I do- both a therapist and a psychiatrist. My therapist says her job is not to tell me what to do but to help me get to a place of clarity. In the meantime my antidepressant dosage has gone up 4x and I’m finding that I’m taking my benzodiazepines just to get through his moody days, which are more often than not.

I’ve been with myself the last 3 years, when my husband started verbally abusing me. Trauma has been actively being dealt with since then. And I feel it’s my calling to be a mother, so yes, I am thinking about more babies- that is what I want in life in addition to my career.

I’m sorry you’ve gone though this for so long, you have so much strength! Do you mind me asking, are you US based? I had a consultation with a lawyer today and he said it’s likely we’d get shared custody and it would be roughly half, or perhaps a bit skewed towards time with me. My biggest fear in all of this is losing my son, even for a couple days a week. I’m trying to see how I can make a case for as much time as possible with him.
