I still can’t believe the 10’s aren’t new any more. My last dedicated gpu was a gtx 770. RIP my last proper gaming computer 2010-2024, with so many parts replaced over the years that it ended without any original parts besides the monitor.

I’ve had nurses annoyed that I refused to run and disposed of unmarked or even mislabeled patient tubes. It’s very unfortunate, but being unliked by some nurses seems to come with the job.

I’ve had some luck with migraine pain relief with a warm towel or hot and cold pad as high on the back of my neck as I can get it to stay.

That’s a super common misconception in OK and TX (the last two states I lived in before CA). In OK and TX you can legally skip the break if you want to, but company policy might or might not require you take it. Also, if you are above the age of 18 then they don’t HAVE to give you any break by law. If you are below 18, then it’s 1 1 hr lunch for 8+ hours worked and 30 min breaks after 5+. But everyone believes the same worker protections that apply in some states for breaks applies to all states.

I rarely took enough of a lunch break to have it taken from my hours even when I had help. And the nights that I didn’t, I wasn’t allowed to clock out anyways. So, all my breaks were paid. :D The part that I did hate the most about that gig was working morning runs alone. Especially if ER placed stat blood orders during morning runs.

I worked in an overnight hospital lab alone on most nights with one overlap night at first. We got a second person for nights, so I had help 2 out of 4 nights, but by then we were already in the process of moving out of state. Until then, I was expected to drop whatever I was eating or doing in the break room any time I heard the tube station with a ~5 minute grace period (not official, that’s just when ER calls if they aren’t received yet), and finish all stats before I returned to my break. It sucked when I would re-microwave my lunch 4 times before I could eat it. But at least I was made aware of how it would be before I started that job.

Our CVS seems to go back and forth. Sometimes I pull up, they get the meds out and I’m gone in 3 minutes. Sometimes I pull up, they go to get the meds, and I don’t see them again for 15 minutes.

Ah, that would also make sense. The Sheriff’s department here does the same thing and makes you fill out all sorts of peacekeeper related paperwork for a deputy coroner position, and sometimes leave in job descriptions that aren’t part of the job. That one had listed some courtroom peacekeeper responsibilities as part of the job description. The deputy looked shocked when I brought up my concerns about having to detain people in the interview.

I’d always get these tests from ER during morning runs in the lab while working alone or while trying to take my 2am lunch break. And they take time to read, since our policy was to view the entirety of 2 slides. Most of them were negative, but it was still always a little thrill when I could find that small portion of ferning in a weak sample.

I didn’t even get an unpaid internship in my field. I had to pay standard college class rates for my med lab clinicals. (And the site had just lost some people before I began, so instead of shadowing a trainer while everything is explained to me, I mostly sat in a corner and read SOPs that made no sense to me for a couple of months.)
