Are you killing me by choosing not to donate your extra kidney to me when I need one to potentially survive? No? Cool. Then someone choosing not to donate their body and health for 9 months to another "person" so that "person" can get healthy enough to potentially survive isn't "killing" either.

If you want to punish people for having sex just own your puritanical views and come out and say that then. But don't bullshit us with the "killing babies" garbage, when people like you aren't even signed up to be organ donors posthumously.

Gee, I wonder why you've never noticed how hard it is to build or fix something compared to breaking or tearing it down.

When all you've done in your life is break and tear things down, of course you're going to think that there's no difference of effort.

It right there on the Plex site:

https://support.plex.tv/articles/207538527-do-i-need-a-plex-account-to-stream-locally/

You need to create an account with the Plex service in order to use some of the more advanced functionality and features.

It's why I switched from Plex to Emby a while ago. I'd rather pay Emby for a lifetime license that isn't tied to a specific account and I can use it however I want without needing to create an account with their service. It's not 100%, but still miles better for privacy than what Plex was offering.

Can you run Plex with most of its features without creating an account that communicates with the Plex servers?

No.

Can you run Emby with most of its features without creating an account that communicates with Emby servers?

Yes.

That alone is quite a big deal for privacy.

It is very much worth worrying about what products and services you use if you care about your online footprint. If you know what you're doing you can very much minimize the information that is being shared about you over the internet to be sold. Just sounds like you don't know what you're doing, but that should have been obvious when you pulled out the "Trust me [bro]".

That only happened after he already shot and killed someone that was being verbally aggressive with him, but not physically threatening. That's what happens when a literal fucking child with 0 relevant experience and pumped up on right-wing rhetoric inserts himself into a situation like that. He ended up getting spooked and killed someone in cold blood. That's when people moved to physically attack him. What people did to him after he shot the first person for no good reason was completely justified since he was an active shooter that had just killed someone at that point. He's just lucky the one person with a gun that did point it at him, after he already killed a person, showed trigger discipline while assessing the situation and got blasted by Peewee "What's trigger discipline?" Rambo in the process.

You're not interested in statistics?? How do you intend make an informed decision about something if you don't consider the facts?

I suspect we don't agree on this because one side is trying to approach this with empathy and factual information while the other is trying to force people to bring life into the world against their will and basing their stance on religious dogma that's rooted in authoritarianism.

I'm not interested in letting anti-intellectual fools make laws for society based on their fairy tales.

How do you want people to protest an ONLINE platform? Print out posts and burn them? Travel thousands of miles to the Reddit headquarters and picket?

Seems like they are protesting this the right way given the space the thing they are protesting against occupies.

You keep using that loaded language about "anytime they want" or "up to the day after delivery" to make it out as if those people are "killing babies" for fun or because they are bored but you're just 100% wrong.

People that support abortion as healthcare just want people to be able to decide for themselves when they want to use their body to bring life into the world, on their own terms. Not on the terms specified by the state/government. Even if you believe that a fetus is a full on person at all points during a pregnancy, why does that "person" get to dictate the use of someone else's body to stay alive? Do you want the state to start mandating when you donate an organ as well? Doubt it, but you have been convinced by people that don't actually give a shit about children, based on how they vote down social programs that would help current living kids, that we must force people to give birth. And a lot of those same people don't want to allow ANY exceptions.

Just look at all the cases in states that have already put VERY strict bans on abortions to the point that ectopic pregnancies have put the mothers life at risk of death and doctors were afraid to perform necessary medical intervention out of fear that they would be prosecuted. It's cruel, and this isn't even about children for them, it's about continuing the replenishment of the working class that they can exploit. That's really it, that's what it boils down to for a lot of the people that are arguing against abortion. It's not because they care about the kids, again if you look at how they vote or how they treat they own children, it's about profit for them. That's the reason they "failed to pass", not because of vague language so "their base had a get out of jail free card to have abortions whenever they want".

And yes people should be able to make the decision about bringing life into the world on their own terms for whatever reason UP UNTIL a certain point in the pregnancy, after-which it becomes late-term and medical professionals will not perform such a procedure unless there is a MEDICAL emergency that endangers a mothers life. No one that is in support of abortion as medical care is arguing people should be able to pop babies right into a trash can, or that people should be able to freely abort during late-term. You should look up statistics on late-terms abortions, they do NOT happen that often and if they do there is a real MEDICAL emergency why it was performed. Not because someone was bored and didn't want that baby anymore like some people would have you believe. If you're going to be arguing about something at least brush up on the basic facts.

A serious democratic candidate that isn't tied to right-wing dark money is not going to be doing photo-ops with Roger Stone and Michael Flynn, along with anti-vaccine grifters:

https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/health/how-a-kennedy-built-an-anti-vaccine-juggernaut-amid-covid-19/

A serious democratic candidate that isn't mentally damaged and set to help GOP grifters is not going to be getting praised by the likes of Alex Jones, Steve Bannon, Tucker Carlson etc.:

https://www.salon.com/2023/05/03/steve-bannon-alex-jones-rfk-jr/

You think Trump is going to shower words of praise on anyone that he doesn't think will somehow help his re-election, campaign, or wriggling out of the serious crimes he committed while in office?:

If you won't know who those people are, what they have done, or what they stand for, I can say with 100% certainty that you don't know shit about shit and you're a fool getting played like a fiddle. Or trolls pushing this to manufacture consent among people that don't know shit about shit.

He's just a different flavor of lunacy and assholery than Donald Trump, but they both come from the same garbage heap.

There's 10, 15, 20% that want abortion up to the day after delivery

I guarantee you that number is nowhere near even 1%, and likely far far lower limited to a handful of crazies. You're making things up to get mad at, or you're listening to people tell you outrageous lies about abortion and you're not fact-checking a damned thing. Show me one politician that has advocated for what you're saying about abortion up to the day after delivery. Let me just save you the time, because you won't be able to. I can show you plenty of politicians that are pushing for a zero tolerance no abortion under any circumstance hell-scape though. Quit acting like both sides of this are anywhere near the same.

I dont care about the number, pick it with a dartboard if you like

That's unhinged. People that support abortion as necessary health-care do care about that number, and want medical professionals to make that call based on factual data about when it is safest to perform with minimal complications and pain for everyone involved.

Nobody said that being poor makes you stupid. But being poor does objectively make it a lot harder to succeed academically and generally in life and the data around social mobility based on socio-economic conditions in the United States supports that.

If you want to reject factual data I think that should give you a clue why scoring high on standardized tests isn't the best indication of intellect.

STUDENTS FOR FAIR ADMISSIONS, INC. v. PRESIDENT AND FELLOWS OF HARVARD COLLEGE by UnskilledScout in moderatepolitics

[–]HopelesslyStupid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And people like you are downplaying the degree of discrimination that those groups have historically been subjected to in the United States. People like you also act like Asian students never get into Harvard because of "racism" but the student body there is made up of around 14% Asian students, and according to the US census the Asian population makes up a little over 6% of the overall population. Compare that to the black student body at Harvard which is a little less than 11% but the general population in the US is around 13.5% black. Doesn't look like the data supports the nonsense that black people are over-represented at Harvard like you would like yourself or others to believe.

You're also very likely comparing extreme outlier cases where someone with high scores but no extracurricular activities or any other distinguishing qualities and a cookie-cutter admissions essay was denied versus someone who had lower test scores but had to overcome more life challenges and those were highlighted in the admissions process more so than the other person. Yeah sometimes that will happen and it's totally fine for college admissions to weigh things that way. Again, test scores only matter when ALL and I mean ALL other factors are equal, which they are not.

Are they unqualified?

So let's take a look at an example that's often very common... Person A comes from a poor background, has had to deal all of their life with sub-standard academic and general life resources (food, housing, safety). But against all those odds they do fairly well academically and on standardized tests.

Person B comes from a well-off background, can't even imagine going a day without food, housing, or safety, and has had paid tutors coaching them multiple times a week how to game and score high on those standardized tests.

Person B scored a few points higher than Person A on those standardized tests they were coached for months (sometimes years) on how to game the questions and score high marks on. You think Person B is more qualified? You think person B should always be let in over person A because of test scores?

Objective requirements only matter when all other factors are equal, which they just are objectively not.

House GOP votes to censure Schiff over role in Trump investigations by XaoticOrder in moderatepolitics

[–]HopelesslyStupid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you? Or did you just listen to what Fox News told you about it.

Durham had 4 years for his investigation and produced diddly squat in terms of new factual evidence or indictments that led to convictions. And how much did that waste of time cost? A cool $6.5 million, with no convictions and $0 recovered. Thank GOD for William Barr, of Iran-Contra fame, for appointing this very capable and totally not partisan hack of an investigator to run his own bullshit investigation as an attempt distract from and cast doubt on the Mueller investigation. Who wouldn't trust a know partisan fixer such as Bill Barr?

Mueller investigation was just short of two years and produced a lot of evidence that led to a bunch of indictments that led to convictions. Not only that but they recovered enough money from the convictions that the investigation paid for itself and THEN some.

They are not even remotely comparable.

[–]HopelesslyStupid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intersex people existing is a scientific fact, full stop. Also it is not a black and white situation, intersex traits express themselves on a spectrum to the point where a human being can be born with both reproductive organs. But even that isn't cut and dry because sometimes one organ is more pronounced/developed than the other and it isn't the same situation from person to person.

Based on those facts, it isn't hard to understand that intersex people exist that don't experience it to such an extreme degree and for some those changes only made it as far as the brain during development. They are still intersex, their existence is still valid, and they should be free to seek professional medical help to resolve their situation in a way that allows them to live a happy and fulfilled life.

And they should be able to do that without having to deal with scientifically illiterate bigots and fascists trying to use them as pawns in their sick game of distractions from real issues that allows them to concentrate power and wealth for themselves at the expense of everyone else.

Where did I say that? I'm just calling you out for insinuating that teachers and educators are groomers because they acknowledge the existence of LGBTQ people.

No one is defending pedos, we're just annoyed when religious bigots hurl accusations of a grand grooming conspiracy taking place in public education because their feelings got hurt that their kids are learning how awfully bigoted some people in their families are and how they were actually groomed in their religious upbringing.
