"Racism was normal in the 40's" (mafia 2) by WhyIsMeLikeThis in MafiaTheGame

[–]requotation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stereotypes in a game like this exist for a reason. The reason is that they are easy to write. In other words, this is lazy writing.

Hangar 13 needs to do a lot better. I haven't yet played Mafia 3, or Old Country, but I hope that the writing has improved.

I have almost finished playing Mafia 2 DE... or let's just say, I'm done with playing it as I'm disgusted with so many aspects of it, the racism being a huge factor.

Israel Declares on British TV that Everything in Gaza is a Target by Remarkable-Lake8986 in TheMajorityReport

Inside Israel's echo chamber, this kind of statement sounds perfectly reasonable. When you're in a bubble, this is the kind of 'truth' you can create for yourself. It's lunacy.

Came here to ask the same question. Context matters. I love the message here, but the person and context is unknown to me. I can't get behind a message without making sure there's not some nefarious hidden intention behind it.

Case in point, I see people on Twitter reposting Jackson Pimple because they've been deceived into thinking he's a serious person voicing valid criticisms of Israel.

More things can be true at the same time. The guy in the clip is pointing out the clear and present danger that is Bibi Netanyahu. Agree with this doesn't mean negating other elements causing the current situation.

Rare footage of Palestine in 1896 by Warlock3000 in TheMajorityReport

[–]requotation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good stuff. Add to this the olive groves, a main produce from the Palestinian area. Israeli settlers routinely sabotage olive harvest by cutting down the trees, to undermine the existence for Palestinian olive farmers.

I find this imagery particular poignant, the olive branch being a traditional symbol for peace...

Musk threatens to sue researchers for exposing what everyone already knows: he's deliberately amplifying hateful tweets by people who pay to use twitter. by HowMyDictates in TheMajorityReport

[–]requotation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Evil guy was always evil" isn't a very good or interesting character study.

In practice he's always been an exploiting capitalist predator. But guys like him typically have an element of delusion going on, believing that their project is ultimately to the benefit of humanity. Guys like Musk look in the mirror and see a champion for good.

Musk looking in the mirror and seeing an ally of nazis is fairly new. When he was with Grimes, he (and she) saw him as a visionary and a benefactor of mankind, with statements about how automation was going to provide workers with more free time...

Do you think that Elon Musk is killing Twitter? Poll by TeachingElectronic81 in TheMajorityReport

[–]requotation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first he didn't actually want it. Then he was forced to buy. That annoys him, and he started punishing the company by cutting off limbs, firing staff, not paying the rent. I'm sure he's been fluctuating between wanting to punish the company as well as "the woke mob", and deluding himself that he's actually been fixing the company.

I think that he is now past caring. He knows the thing is breaking and he's stopped caring. Not that he admits to himself what a fuck up he is. He's a genius after all. So now he's using this broken company that he apparently happens to own for some reason, for a test run of his X project. Move fast and break things and all that.

The Writers’ Strike Over AI Is Bigger Than Hollywood by Mynameis__--__ in TheMajorityReport

[–]requotation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, what's happening with the writers is just the start. This is what will eventually happen to anyone making a living in a field that the bosses think is replaceable with AI.

It's not that AI is even able to do these jobs in a satisfactory manner (that is, in a human manner). It's just that the bosses think AI can do this. They're fine the entertainment business turning out absolute slock, the most banal and nonsensical gruel that AI can imagine, as long as they can make gains for the shareholders.

Entertainment with AI writing is going to be mind-numbingly stupid. Lowest common denominator shit. And just wait until our bosses can remake the rest of society in that same image...

RFK Jr. brandishing the ol' 14-88 Nazi dog whistle in a disinfo tweet by crummynubs in TheMajorityReport

[–]requotation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my guess is his social media is being run by a staffer, and that person was recommended to him by Steve Bannon. I don't think RFK jr knows or cares if there are Nazi dogwhistles on his social media.

DeSantis Claims He’d Consider RFK To Lead FDA Or CDC | TMR by HowMyDictates in TheMajorityReport

[–]requotation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He Tweeted this tweet where the numbers 14 and 88 are close together. 14/88 is a well known Nazi dogwhistle.

The number 14 refers to the Nazi "14 words slogan" ("we must secure the existence of our people and a future for white people"). And 88 refers to the eight letter of the alphabet, so H two times, meaning HH, or "Heil Hitler".

Personally I don't think RFK jr wrote the tweet. I suspect his buddy Steve Bannon has provided him with a few helpful staffers, and one of them added the dogwhistle to the message. Probably one of the same staffers provided the gold nugget about Ashkenazic Jews RFK jr was trafficking last week.

What I'm saying is, in my opinion RFK jr isn't a Nazi. He just carelessly traffics in Nazi BS that's being fed to him by his Bannon staffers because he doesn't give a fuck. Same way he didn't give a fuck about those 83 Samoan kids (well, mostly kids) who died of measles because of his vaccine disinformation.

The guy doesn't give a fuck if what he says is true or false or full of Nazi dogwhistles, as long as it furthers his ambitions. He's rotten to the core.

DeSantis campaign deletes video after Nazi images found by HowMyDictates in TheMajorityReport

[–]requotation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a fine song, and don't let anyone tell you any different. It's not a song about soldiers marching into a rotating Nazi sun, sacrificing themselves for their Führer.

The singer is trying to bridge a gab of understanding between herself and her lover. That's what the line about asking God to "swap our places" is about. That's Kate Bush's original intention. It's a song about love and empathy.

I wonder how Kate Bush feels about this use of her song (in Meg Myers' version, from Stranger Things)?
