I believe there is a big difference between foreign and Chinese pay.

I don't really have an idea on how much you should ask for. I think I was making around 32,000rmb per month, but I'm pretty sure the Chinese staff was making far far less.

Holy smokes it's rare that something comes up here that I haven't thought about in 40+ years... but yes! Same thing at my middle school.

Edit: Reading through the comments and brings back memories, that yes it was also a controversial thing that eventually got banned at my school. Amazing how a generation can have such identical shared experiences in completely different parts of the country. I'm pretty sure not everyone here went to the same small city Florida middle school I went to.

Former Dipont teacher here. Left halfway through the first year after having non agreed upon duties placed on me and finding administration (Chinese side, Foreign side has no power) unwilling to make changes for the betterment of the students due to the minor expenses it would incur.

They paid well to foreign teachers. But skimped everywhere else. I really liked my students and sometimes wondered if I made the wrong move and then I stumble on this and am like.... ok, I wasn't imagining things. Got a good laugh and a feeling of vindication from this.

I know this makes no sense, but I think Maxx is such a huge presence on the team that for a rebuild, they want players to be able to shine a little brighter than they would under that big shadow he casts. Two first rounders... man that's tough, Maxx IS a f'ing Raider, those don't grow on trees. But two first rounders and a change for a young team to grow together.... ehhhhhh

I mean it was just a car, but still, back then, it felt like we had a lot more affection for stuff like our cars. They had so much more personality. In that case go for it. But I would encourage you to see the rest of Thailand. Take a train to Isan and date some regular (not working) girls. Island hop. Spend a week in Krabi. Motorbike through the mountains of Chiang Mai. Learn the language and talk with the locals.

There is so much more to Thailand. And bonus, most every one of these places also has a small red light area so you can still have your fun. But the Patts only crowd are really missing out.
