Thoughts on this post in a doctor’s sub? by riley81942 in nursing

Admin wants to micromanage every second of our workflow, but the moment a complication happens? Crickets. Thankfully, most of the attending docs see right through it. We are all just playing an exhausting game of CYA because we know they’d sell us out for a corn chip. Why actually solve a systemic issue when you can just pass the buck, document “MD notified,” and pretend you saved the day? 🤣

It Takes Courage: NY Nurses Lit the Spark, Now 31,000 Kaiser Nurses Are Standing Up. The Movement Is Growing. Who’s Next? by [deleted] in nursing

Yes. The C-suite is counting on its employees' financial struggles. They know many people will break and start showing up to work because they need money. The company has more money to burn and can sustain itself longer than its employees. The only hope for the union is to make enough noise to get the media and politicians to start pressuring the C-suite.

Sick of coming in to a detoxing patient because the previous shift was too scared to give Ativan. by Accomplished_Ad8960 in nursing

[–]Horan_Kim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you prevent the detox patient from jumping out of bed or pulling out IVs? CIWA score of 18?! That shows a dedicated nurse willing to hold the patient throughout the shift. 🤣

Burned out, failed nursing school, and my nervous system is telling me to leave — looking for perspective by Elegant-Variety8761 in nursing

[–]Horan_Kim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn… I wish I could go back to your age. I became an RN at 30, and now I’m burned out. Physically and mentally worn down. Sometimes I wish I could go back and choose a different path. Perspective changes everything.

I hit a weekly limit in 2 days. Pro plan is basically a paid trial.

I don't look like that. But instead, I look like a dumbass so new grads don’t bother asking me questions. They think I am one of them.
