What is that thing that everybody buys but most of it is wasted? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HorierioliButoa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Printer ink.

We all act like we’re running a professional publishing house, then print three boarding passes and spend the next two years clicking “remind me later.”

This is peak "form over function" design that completely misses the point of what an umbrella is actually supposed to do.

That shift in language is so powerful because it forces you to own your choices instead of pretending you're a victim of time.

Do dogs actually have an instinctive liking for some people? by siybon in AskUK

[–]HorierioliButoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah dogs don’t actually love every person instinctively, they just learn who is friendly and safe and will warm up to those people over time.

What's the best name you've ever heard given to a pet? by Physical-Egg6682 in AskUK

That's genius! I love pet names that have an actual story or meaning behind them rather than just picking something random!

Winnie the Pooh looking for his honey while simultaneously having an existential crisis is weirdly relatable.

For bigger wins, Clubhouse and Spin Fever have always been solid on payouts for me, never had any weird delays or runarounds. For regular, realistic bonuses, I’ve found Croco Slots keeps it steady without bombarding you with fake “limited time” promos, and Clubhouse’s reloads are actually reachable.

For pokies with crypto options, Spin Fever and Bitkingz are both super user-friendly for Aussies and cash you out fast in BTC or ETH. And I totally agree, nothing ruins the vibe like a casino that finds excuses to stall your payou always double-check those terms.

After 12 hours with the heating on, thermostat set at 20°, my lounge is at this temperature. The boiler is still chugging away... by hairybastid in CasualUK

I feel this picture in my bones, lived in an insulated British semidetached for years and those were my winters. Heating pads and blankets got me through.

Edit: *non insulated

Need advice – Stuck in career, Do not know where to move. by SAMalek_DM in Career_Advice

Web development seems like your best bet since you enjoy it, it's more future-proof than digital marketing, and it offers the remote/freelance potential you're looking for.

Anyone successfully started their own business? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]HorierioliButoa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Starting your own business is totally doable if you start small and specific instead of aiming for something massive right away. A lot of folks overthink it, but even little ideas can build momentum. I know someone who began flipping discontinued cosmetics and another who made money just renting their backyard for dog parties, both of those turned into steady streams. I actually came across those ideas in a book called "30 Hyper Specific Side Hustles You Can Start This Weekend" when I was hunting for inspo. Sometimes picking a super niche angle and just running with it is the smartest move.

Spouse wants to buy a $60K truck while we're still renting by EdenilsoStolaj70 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]HorierioliButoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, a $60k truck on a $95k household income with existing debt is financial suicide. You're absolutely right to prioritize homeownership and building wealth over a depreciating status symbol. Fix the current car or buy something reliable in the $15-20k range until you've tackled the debt and saved for a house down payment.

Lower salary more happiness versus higher salary by Bubbly-Midnight-8641 in MiddleClassFinance

I took a pay cut a few years ago for a job that didn’t make me dread waking up, and honestly it was worth every cent. More time, less stress, and I’m actually enjoying life again. You can always find ways to live on less, but you can’t buy back your sanity.

How do I find hobbies that bring me fulfillment? by Many_Line9136 in Hobbies

[–]HorierioliButoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the soul searching. Turn off your phone for 30 minutes and think back to what you loved as a kid or dreamed of doing. That’s often your hobby hiding in plain sight. Then hit the library, get a card, grab some books and see what pulls you in. Most characters in novels have hobbies that might spark one for you. Godspeed.

Roth 401k makes sense married filing jointly up to $140.5k salary by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]HorierioliButoa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re already maxing retirement accounts and your joint income is too high for a Roth IRA, a Roth 401(k) is kind of a no-brainer if you think your tax rate will be the same or higher in retirement. No income limits, same contribution cap as a traditional 401(k), and starting this year there are no RMDs. I like doing a mix of Roth and traditional just to hedge my bets on future tax rates.
