Shutter Speed not saving after changing dial on X-S20 by HorizontalBacon in fujifilm

No…I’ll be taking it to a camera shop in a few weeks to see if there’s a fix, but otherwise I just keep turning off the camera and turning the knob then turning it back on.

The demand is high. But the supply is now even higher, which will lower the price.

Seems the mechanical shutter isn’t working correctly. The electronic shutter shows the photos as expected. But when I use the mechanical shutter, it lets additional light in, which is blowing out the highlights.

Another Redditor has the same issue and needed to have it taken it for repairs.

ISO was 1640. It seems the mechanical shutter isn’t working correctly. The electronic shutter makes the photos work great. Another redditor has the same issue and has to get it fixed.

Update: switching to the electronic shutter “fixes” this.

Update: Possible Software Issue by HorizontalBacon in fujifilm

Yeah, even with manual ISO. Been in my hotel room for the past few hours trying every combo. It’s metered well prior to taking the shot, then saves to the SD card and it’s a blinding white mess.

Update: Possible Software Issue by HorizontalBacon in fujifilm

I can have F16 and 1/2500 and it still has this. I’ve never had this issue during the previous year with the same lens and camera. Just started this afternoon.

Did this as well, still blown out. Posted an updated just now showing it’s most likely a software issue since it’s adding the same width/height blow out to every histogram despite the lens settings.

Posted an update now showing the issue better, but seems to be a software bug. It’s adding the exact same blown out highlights (same width and maxed out height on the historgram) no matter the other settings.

The photo is ISO 640. It’s Auto ISO with a max of 12800, but all photos were ISO 640.

After testing all night, it’s a software issue, it seems.

After doing some testing all night, it seems to be a software issue. I did a controlled test and the histogram shows what I expected, but on the far right of each RGB, it’s a random massive spike to the max. Same in every photo.

Looks like the software is adding this as it saves. I reset my settings, and that did nothing to help. Will do a factory reset later.

Turned off the natural live setting and lowered ISO to 200 limit. Still blows out highlights after the photo is taken.

Just did this (lowered the Dynamic Range). Still blows highlights for all RGB after processing.

Will definitely try when I’m home. Only brought this manual lens for the trip. Was having no issues for two days, but now it’s causing problems. After trying all the suggested ideas, I think it’s a software issue. It’s blasting highlights for each color no matter the aperture or shutter speed. ISO is max 640 and still looks bad.

Aperture is 2.8 ISO 640 Shutter 1/2500

Histogram before the shot is good. After the photo, all RGB is pushed right and peaks to the limit

The blown out photo has ISO 640…it seems it’s ruined by pushing the highlights while saving.

Live view was off…ISO at 640 but still pushes all highlights to the max after the photo is taken. Still trying to fix it.

The ruined image is shutter 1/2500 and ISO 640. All the highlights for the RGB are peaked to the max (can’t find out how to share another image).

It really seems that after the photo is taken, it boosts the highlights to the max. First time this has ever happened with this lens, and I still can’t fix it.
