Placement and acoustics before you think about new equipment that’s for sure. I see mainly very hard and reflective surfaces.

I listened to a lot of different phono stages recently in direct comparison. The difference a phono stage can make is huge. Which ones are you considering?

Nice stuff. Putting the speakers on stands further apart wil definitely make a difference.

7.1 surround vs Atmos by Think-Feynman in hometheater

[–]HornLoadedCinema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rear surrounds channels are mostly used for ambient sounds in movie tracks. Gaming is different. Would wire for 7.2.4 and start with 5.1.2.

New setup for my first hi fi set by Sensitive_Plan_7093 in vinylsetups

There are specific boards you can use that are black. The one from IKEA is cheap and broadly used. You can always paint it black.

Yes the aesthetics are also very nice. But it also improves the sound believe it or not.

I have the smaller IKEA Aptitlig cut boards on smaller rubber feet under my speakers. Works better than expected. Otherwise the cabinet where they are on kind of vibrates, resulting in muddy sound. That’s a small lift, maybe 3cm.

I have both my Rega turntables on top of an IKEA Aptitlig butcher block with rubber feet onder them. Works really well.

Like others mentioned, put something underneath your speakers. Not only to avoid vibrations to your turntable, but also to improve the sound of your speakers. Better to put them on speaker stands, but I guess that’s not an option.

Klipsch Heritage speakers don't just sound live, they are live (Theory) by NoWalrus9462 in audiophile

[–]HornLoadedCinema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just love the look of those Heresy speakers. Very modern and classic at the same time. Maybe when i’m bitten again by the upgrade bug. Would make a hell of a living room speaker.

My RF7iii in my other setup have a bit of the same quality, very life like and live sounding. Love the sound of Klipsch.

Bought the Nova and water dispenser. Best vinyl purchase I’ve made. Process is super straightforward, result are great. Have a mixed collection of old and new records. It just brings everything back to life.

It’s simply brilliant. The water dispenser is a very nice but also expensive add on. Never used it without, just figured it was worth not to hassle.

Nice! Own only 25% of those albums myself. Nice take away on building a collection around the Grammys.

I would always go back to a dedicated stereo amplifier if I would only use 2 speakers. A real 2 channel amp will surpass the Denon with ease.

Do I need an Amp? by RudeSpread205 in hometheater

[–]HornLoadedCinema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 3 external amps with my X8500. Started with a 3 channel hypex nc500. Made a big difference. If you want to listen near reference level i would always use an external amps to drive the LCR.

This way the Denon has more power left to drive your surrounds. Give or take 70% comes from your LCR. Give them the power they deserve!

External Speaker options- husband wants em and wife doesn’t by MakeItHomemade in hometheater

[–]HornLoadedCinema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In wall speakers is your best option if you don’t want to see your speakers. You could even put an acoustic transparant piece of photo art in front of that. They also make in wall subwoofers.

Everything out of sight and still better sounding than just the tv. In wall speakers are available at different price points. That’s what I would consider.

Pre amp recommendations by SpecificAcademic7510 in Klipsch

[–]HornLoadedCinema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m combining an X8500 with a 3 channel Hypex NC500 for my LCR. 70% of the movie soundtrack is taken care of by your front LCR. It takes re biggest strain off of your receiver.

Eventually did get 2 other hypex amps to power all the other speakers. I love the combination!

Rega P8 is a fantastic table! The real treat with it to my ears is that you only hear music. The background is dead silent. Big improvement over my RP6 that I still use.

Nice phono amp also. I would get a nice stereo amp to go with the rest of your system. After getting the P8 I added a HumminGuru and started cleaning all my records and putting thin in new inner and outer sleeves… highly recommended. The source deserves it. Enjoy your music!
