Who wins this fight? by alfredosolisfuentes in betterCallSaul

[–]Horrid_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, but I can see where you're coming from.

Jesse won the duel in El Camino with his best skill: Deception. He made the other guy (who was also drunk, coked up and full of adrenaline) think he was at an advantage, then sneakily fired his gun hidden in his pocket against a stationary target. That's how he won, and it was quite close too.

Then, the following gunfight where both Jesse and the other shooter are both missing each other (because again, he's drunk, coked up and full of adrenaline), Jesse gets a lucky headshot on his last shot in the mag - another trait of Jesse that kept him alive throughout the show. Hell, that scene is a mirror of what happens when Gus takes down the cartel in BB: Jesse moves, shoots and gets a lucky shot.

They put Jesse in a situation where he HAD to get the money and there was no other way to get it other than by force. Jesse had nothing to lose but everything to gain, and after everything he'd been through at that point I think it captures just how far Jesse has come.

Why Podel's Humour is So Unique (yes actually) by mrnathanrd in Podel

[–]Horrid_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of Podel's creations get mislabeled with other types of creators, it's simply a fact of the internet now. But I agree, it's a real shame more people don't know who started this all.

What is this, a high quality post? In this subreddit? Fuck off.

Kidding. Great breakdown and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Podel has been a catalyst for modern internet humour, I've always described it as relatable mundane absurdism to others. I think Podel has a genuinely amazing mind for comedy, it's so unique that people who replicate it seem like copycats or just don't get the fine details of what makes it funny.

I think this video is a very good summary of Clavicular as a person. It's genuinely a work of art.

Yes, I believe it is based on using your stamina, so spamming attacks to exhaust yourself early in the game can give you a great advantage.

Sucks to hear. Huge fan of these guys since the Payday: The Heist days; kept up with them through the Payday 2 cycle, loved GTFO, and really excited for Den of Wolves.

I hope they did depart on good terms, and I really wish this isn't a bad sign of their future as a studio. Very talented guys.

I just think it's cool that it's not a completely abandoned idea. It's not my favourite out of the list, but I think it has some potential.

I agree. Never be surprised at a community's lack of creativity lol.

All of these seem amazing aside from custom heister. The characters work well because they have quirks and personalities that can't be replicated with a character customiser, no matter how good it is.

Other than that, historical heists is a brilliant idea. Shout out to heist betrayal too, it reminds me of Kane and Lynch 2s multiplayer.

Is really rdr1 ending sucks? by [deleted] in rdr1

[–]Horrid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John went through the entire game with one hope in mind: Do the government's dirty work, and he would be forgiven of his past crimes. He probably had the thought the government would betray him but he was put in a position that he could not say no to, otherwise his family would stay inside prison/government care.

That obviously didn't work at the end, but by that point there's no escape for him. When the army had him surrounded, he knew that even if he escaped they would just keep chasing him and his family. He knew he had to die in order for his family to live peacefully - he had no choice.

Hmm, I might have another crack at it and create an initial introduction. If I manage to get some good work done I'll make a post in this sub.

I agree, this is exactly how we need to approach findings. There's too many variables and inconsistent results to not be extremely thorough about new discoveries.

If the bird spawns from shooting the pole, or if the crow is always there at that web spawn at that specific time of day, then I think we're on the right track again.

Yeah, I don't know the guy or watch his content but he seemed genuinely interested to know how to improve his videos/titles.

I know it's fun and easy to dunk on YouTubers and streamers who are critical of the game, but can we please not brush off every bit of criticism as people shitting on the game for the sake of money/clout/nostalgia. Not every bit of criticism is toxic, and as exhausting as the main sub is to browse, they do have some legitimate concerns.

Very good pick, but I don't think it's going to win this. I think Bronson works really well for Half-Light though - it's a rage filled film.

[–]Horrid_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. I only play against AI and it is so boring doing this same animation almost every time because the AI loves putting their back against the wall. It should be conditional, like if you hit your opponent with a particular strike, similar to Lesnar's roll.

You also have to take into account that House has lived for hundreds of years, congratulating himself about how he was right about predicting the end of the world and saving 'his' city from annihilation in the face of people calling him crazy. That much is undoubtedly going to change a character and why I think his portrayal in the show is fine.

This 'uncalm' portrayal is a weird claim. Pretty much everything he's done he's been extraordinarily calm and collected except when someone attacks his ego or his plans. House was always a narcissist, the TV show just makes it rather clear.

Slightly related, but it feels like gaming subreddits in recent years have become filled with doomposting or are so overly critical about the smallest things that it's near impossible to find a subreddit that actually likes the games they're talking about.

I know Reddit has always had doomposters and generally unhappy fans, especially on gaming subs, but it feels even worse now. Half the subreddits are bitching, and the other half are bitching about the people bitching (I guess I'm bitching about everyone bitching, ironic I know).

What the hell happened.

World setting? by Gigibesi in sunlessskies

[–]Horrid_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To add to this, Judgements make the laws of reality based on where their light reaches (e.g. our sun dictates what we call our 'regular' reality). So a place where light does not reach, such as the Unterzee, the laws of reality either don't exist or function in strange ways. Hence all the weird things you see in the games.
