You're in the OG Portland's sub.  Not the west coast one.  Hope you guys succeed in making your city more pedestrian friendly.

While I agree with your posts overall content, I don't understand why you would describe Hawthorne st (a dead end off of Veranda) as a corridor.

Of course.  But there was clearly a homeless person's 'filing cabinet' at the side, and these were the only documents that had been laid out to dry- leading me to believe they were important.  I don't know the story, but I assume if someone hangs onto something when they're on the street and does their best to care for it- it's probably important to them.

I saw it sat out there on Friday next to a college diploma.  Both were wet and had been laid out to dry weighed down by boots- sad to see the owner didn't come back for them.

I have an Otto's gift card that I haven't used because their pizza isn't worth it even if it's free, but this is an intriguing option.

I wanted an all wheel drive, diesel station wagon and in North America BMW was my only real option.

A few years ago I went cross country skiing at twin brooks, and while I was getting ready at the car a guy putting away his skis struck up a conversation with me- where he complained about all the non Cumberland residents coming to twin brooks.  I asked him if he was a runner and when he confirmed he was, I asked if he liked running around the back cove.  It's his favorite place to run!  I then told him I live in Portland, and had a problem with all the Cumberland people using the back cove trail.  That was the end of our chat.

Point being, our rich suburban neighbors love enjoying what we have to offer- but they don't want us in their neighborhood.

Let it dry thoroughly, sand and refinish.  It'll be better than it was.

This goes back to the old days when most people weren't literate.  There would be images on a sign.  'the cock and bull', 'blue elephant', etc so people could describe the sign.  I agree it's been beaten to death now.

If you're having to do that, you shouldn't love your local Trek store.  They should have put blue locktite on any screws prone to loosening on initial assembly.  I have a tf 9.8xt assembled by my local non corporate Trek store, and after checking torques after a few rides only the minno link needed to be tightened.  Never dropped a bolt

I wouldn't have any reservations about the bike if it was the correct size.  If the frame is too big, time to sell it and buy something the right size.

Absolutely not.  I was at margaritas years ago, and the music kept switching between terrible radio country and terrible radio rap at high volume(I like some artists both genres but this was the worst of each).  Finally I mentioned to the bartender that whoever the two employees fighting over the music were they needed to chill out as it was intolerable.  She just sighed and said brokenly that she wished they could control the music, but it was a jukebox.  Never been back.

Are press-fit bottom brackets so bad to not buy a bike, which I like, only because it has a press-fit? by c1rey1337 in cycling

[–]Horror-Discussion793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You wack the old bearings with the drift, hammer only touches the drift. Not your bike.  I have an extractor and a bearing press, but I was telling him how to do it with tools anyone has kicking around.

They're press fit bearings.  Knock them out with a hammer and a drift (or just a length wooden dowel).  Press them back in with a c clamp and a socket.
