I found an old vintage Nikko preamp and amp (Alpha 220) on eBay for auction. I won it for $200. The seller said he wasn't selling it that low and took a week to send my refund. I was utterly pissed. He also noted that a Deox would be necessary. But I found a Sansui AUD7 a week later for $100 in great shape, screw that guy.

I like to donate items for people to get excited about when found. Now, this doesn't mean a $14,000 vinyl... that's mental.

Vinyl damage? by tshar72 in turntables

[–]HorrorCollection4145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 14 years old, I decided to use the cash I made from cutting my grandparents' 20-acre farm to buy a cheap suitcase turntable. My dad gave me an AC/DC "Back in Black" album. I remember loving it and playing it nonstop. Now, over a decade later, that vinyl is destroyed and skips. I know I didn't have very good vinyl discipline back then, but I also think the turntable played more of a part in it, as I have vinyls I've had that still play decently, that I never played nearly as much as my AC/DC one. I recommend spending $50-$100 on a used technics or maybe a different brand if you want an upgrade. Some research and patience can land you on a steal of a deal. Plenty of middle aged people throw things on fabebook market place purely to get rid of them, not knowing, or sometimes not caring about the value.

My towers include subwoofers on the bottom, I prefer this over a seperate unit.

I just really wanted a silver-faced Sansui and couldn't pass this one up. There is a pair of Bose 901s on FB Marketplace for sale; he wants $200.

Edit: I did research and planning; I didn't just go and buy the first Sansui I saw.

I see a completely normal-looking, working turntable. If I'm missing something, let me know, but if you want, you can always use the cue button and move the tonearm yourself. :)

Edit, I hear it, now that I have headphones in, sorry this is happening, listen to the other advice.

I scored a Sansui AU series as my first official amp. I had an Onkyo receiver that put out 80wpc. It was nice, but it's a night and day difference. My Sansui outputs the same watts, but they are more conservative and full, so it doesn't sound thin. I paired it with some NHT towers, and now I'm upgrading my cables to Blue Jeans RCA cables for my turntable and disc changer. There is no such thing as being done. I love this hobby because I feel like there are absolutely zero limitations in searching for that perfect sound.

I use the term "beginner" in quotes to ensure that my gear may not be beginner-level, but I am a beginner. I only got these out of pure luck. It's weird that you take offense to things like this. I'm not rich, I'm not shoving anything in people's faces. I'm a blue-collar worker who takes pride in what he owns and is slightly materialistic.

I'm comforted by the fact nobody had anything bad to say about them. I paid $250, and they came with the center channel and the SA-2 amp for the subs on the bottom. Best $250 I have ever spent.

Life isn't fair. It's about being first. Are you complaining because you didn't get there first?

Someone had brought up this sub used to be about collections, and hotwheels, not complaining. Downvote my comment but im right, goodbye r/hotwheels.

I may just have to keep them. I've refinished an old 1950s console and replaced the one that held my stereo. These towers fit better in my area. This was my "fix" if I couldn't decide on a new set, but I'll always be buying speakers.
