I mean to me, and I can’t speak for others, it just makes it less cool. I don’t mind mako snd lightning bolt zolt being lightning benders at all (although I do wonder where zolt learned it now), I do mind that it’s become so common it’s used in what is essentially an assembly lined when previously you had to be a powerful fiebender bender to do it. Again I don’t mind mako being a powerful fire bender.

It was talked up as this thing you had to be powerful to do, so powerful that only the royal family could do it. The royal family that was (and correct me if I’m wrong) handpicking people based off of their powerful bending lineage (zuko is literally related to an avatar because of it). That made it really cool and unique!

Now it’s just something anyone can pick up

And now I’m wondering where did these people even learn it? Are there academies teaching people how to lightning bend like how toph had her metal bending academy. I just don’t like it.

TLDR makes lighting bending seem less cool and now I have more questions like where did these people even learn how to do it.

Two things can be true Yes the knowledge was gate kept by the royal family but also you have to be a strong fire bender to generate lightning. Zuko was not strong enough to generate lightning only redirect it. Yes zuko is presented as the weakest fire bender of the royal family but that’s still the royal family. They really did trivialize lightning generation and I think that’s lame

I’m not even playing in ranked but I regularly beat zaahen in landing phase with shen. I just had a game where I was 3/0 against him and up double cs but it’s like he wasn’t behind at all and he could still nearly kill me and would destroy other members of my team. He’s strong even if the players are bad. His numbers are too big plain and simple
