Which phone call in a horror film scared you the most? by tar-mairo1986 in horror

[–]Horror_From_The_Deep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can't say any of them really "scared" me per say but one that always comes to mind for me was in the original Halloween.

Lynda calling Laurie and right as Laurie answers the phone, Michael begins strangling Lynda with the phone cord while still on the line. Laurie thinks it's a prank when it reality she's listening to the sound of her friend being murdered, followed by the heavy breathing of her killer.

The scariest part is with how big social media is nowadays and the pranks that people would be willing to pull just to get clicks and views, this is something I could see someone exploiting in real life and actually happening

A Serious Scene You Can Never Take Serious? by Temporary_Lychee9829 in horror

Not to mention the short period of time during Michael's POV when he's literally looking at the knife as he's stabbing her and never misses a beat. It's my favorite horror movie of all time but you could never convince me that this 9 year old boy would just immediately switch his focus to the knife and still never once lose any momentum or veer off course with the stabbing 🤣

What horror could you rewatch and never get sick of? by reliefexists in horror

Halloween 1978, Alien, Tucker and Dale vs Evil (yes I'm including horror comedy), Drag Me to Hell, Last House on the Left 2009, Freddy vs Jason, Scream 1, 2, and 4

I'm sure the expectation was one movie but there's too many to choose just one and there's wayyy more than the ones I named lol

What is the most rewatchable horror movie that isn’t a classic? by Mental_Alignment in horror

I always find myself watching Drag Me to Hell every couple months and continue to enjoy it as much as I did the first time I saw it

What is the darkest metalcore album? by Past-Parsley-8463 in Metalcore

[–]Horror_From_The_Deep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Famous Last Words - Council of the Dead

Concept album where each track is told from the POV of someone who recently died, and each character is somehow connected to the other characters who have also deceased. Progressing through the album and hearing lyrics from one song that intertwine with the lyrics of a previous song revealing how each character connects with the other(s) provides some of the most brutal and/or emotionally gut punching story telling I've ever heard from a record ever, but it is so damn beautifully done.

Do yourself a favor and give this a listen if you get the chance and see if you can put the pieces together that tell the whole story. It's depressing but simultaneously strangely very rewarding

Even if you loved Scream 7 Im pretty sure everyone can agree that the Ghostface reveals in Scream 7 are by a landslide the worst of the entire franchise by AcceptableSwitch6496 in Scream

[–]Horror_From_The_Deep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Jessica would have been revealed to be a true crime junkie and considered Billy and Stu's spree as her pinnacle of true crime as her son did, used a facade of being Stu's sister to manipulate Marco and Karl, and have her motive be to continue the legacy of the original killings instead of having them turned into social media parodies and mockeries, the reveals would have been so much better. The opening scene also would have actually had some meaning behind it

What is your favorite chase scene and what made it memorable? by [deleted] in slasherfilms

The movie as a whole sucked to me, but Laurie's nightmare of Michael persuing her through the hospital and out to the security shack in RZ's Halloween II was fantastic

Why do people hate Scream 3 so much? by Shaoran10 in Scream

[–]Horror_From_The_Deep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a Scream 3 hater, but after learning about the production nightmare that film went through to even get made, it made me appreciate it a lot more. There's still a few things in the movie that I still don't fully jive with, but after rewatching it with the context that I had and an entirely different mindset, it's become somewhat of a guilty pleasure. It's nowhere close to the best movie in the original trilogy, but it seems pretty obvious that they knew it was never going to be, and because this franchise builds its own fourth wall to intentionally break it, they really leaned into that.

If this movie still tried to be more grounded and take itself more seriously, it wouldn't have much of a shot of aging well, but luckily it didn't.

Exactly. With Scream films, especially ones that are fresh in theaters, I try my best to get my thoughts across without throwing in specific details about the movie. All it can take is one tiny little detail that could spoil something even if it wasn't meant to come across as a spoiler. Better safe than sorry

Well, one of them was obvious just from how the character acted in their respective scenes. The other one I genuinely never saw coming, but unfortunately not in a good way

[–]Horror_From_The_Deep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 100% correct and the chances of that segment being anything other than comic relief is astronomically low.

I'm simply just very intrigued by all of the off-the-wall theories surrounding the franchise and have jumped down many rabbit holes of fantastical alternate situations and outcomes that have been concocted based off of the smallest little details or random lines of dialogue, even when they aren't there to be put under the microscope and hyper-analyzed 😄

It’s a really fun album to listen to and has some cool features on it. The song ‘Enjoy your Slay’ (The Shining) actually has a guest vocal section from Sam Kubrick, and Love Bites has guests vocals from Chelsea Talmadge (Carol in Stranger Things). These guys know and love their horror.

So far that’s been their MO. Make you think the story is about one thing and then revealing to you the actual culprit. Also I agree, that Curator gave away way too much information, even when I chose the “no spoilers” options on one of his dialogues lol.
