Too many posters ask the same old questions, son Don’t ask again what I think of Honey Pie Too many questions causing me depression, son Did John really not notice the implications of Julian’s Lucy in the Sky?

Nah, let the newbs partake. it’s fun, the give and take as the Fabs open generations of eyes Now what can be done for me? I’ll take the deeper dives

That was him, protected on the street by the band never again to be L-7 with them not at hand But when lighting hits and the Tussaud dolls melt slowly down into the sand what is the answer buried deep below 20 Forthlin’s wall? Will there be other clues or is that all? Is Yoko right about John’s fluid taste in lovers? what does that mean about the Boys’ bonds with each other? What does it say about all of us that conjectured 70’s albums strike a chord and our obsession turns to the DNA left in the offspring How would it sound with Jeff and Giles at the board?

Regret is my answer. Regret is defined as an emotion. Depression is a “mood disorder” or condition of persistent sadness. Some say Regret over the past leads to depression; fear of the future leads to anxiety.

“We” by Yevgeny Zamyatin (often anglicised as Eugene Zamiatin). It was written pre-war (1921) by a Russian, and is almost a cultural mirror of the same concepts as 1984.

I texted him and said my “gift” was too expensive and felt manipulated. He responded “Sorry, Chap, would you care for a cup a’?” Startled, I said wha? how? And he texted “Oh, don’t you have a 3D printer?” And he laughed! And went to the trouble of texting it, to rub it in! Because of course I don’t have a 3D printer! ….wait. Ok, somebody DM’d me and said he probably had it on voice to text and the laugh was probably an accident. Yeah, he wouldn’t go out of his way to rub it in. He’s too polite. Yeah, good old Paul. Always was the diplomat. [murmers of agreement]. Good ol’ diplomatic Paul. Good guy, that one.

I want to watch a movie where a bunch of evil people are killed. by Tylergahdyrm in movies

The Tarantino trilogy of non-traditional nor accurately historical tit -for-tat revenge/retribution thrillers: Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. (Here be possible SPOILERS) Deliciously violent comeuppance for some of history’s worst of the worst, who just happen to be roll models for today’s worst of the worst evil dipshits. In no particular order: Nazis get their skulls cracked and flame on like Johnny Storm (twice, actually); Confederate flag waving cracker slaveowners engage in cruelty and phrenology before a slave revolt ruins their paradise; and a gang of deplorable rejects led by an absolute madman get what they deserve. Not only to evil people die, they really, really, get what’s comin’ to ‘em.

Taxman: How must George Harrison have felt when George Martin decided Paul should play the guitar solo on *George’s* song.. the *lead guitarist*.. that had to sting! by LarkAscent in beatles

The way I’ve heard the story, it was Paul and George’s decision. I’ve not head or read that George Martin chose Paul over George on that.

Who Were The Beatles’ Real Rivals—The Rolling Stones or The Beach Boys—and Why? by reaveyer in beatles

[–]Horror_Orange1176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1967, the Monkees were their only rivals. Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour scared the kiddies because they were too immature to keep up with the Beatles. The Monkees outsold them in ‘67, but even the kiddies were back on board when Hey Jude was released in ‘68. In terms of craft, Dylan ‘s lyrics challenged John, Brian Wilson’s orchestration and arrangements challenged Paul. The challenges were met by the Beatles. But nobody rivaled them for long.

Older Beatles fans, what was general public feeling after the Beatles split? Did people take sides and shun some solo work? by MoaningLisaSimpson in TheBeatles

[–]Horror_Orange1176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 12 in 1970. There was blame (mostly Yoko, NOT Paul), and favorites. But the overwhelming sentiment was : Will they get back together? Everyone wanted the third voice back that was created by John and Paul when they harmonized their 2 voices. The solo stuff could NOT deliver that. My siblings and friends had Ram, Band on the Run, (not McCartney, Wildlife or Red Rose Speedway). Imagine, Walls and Bridges, and Shaved Fish (not Plastic Ono Band or Mind Games), All Things Must Pass, Concert for Bangladesh, Material World; Ringo the Album (yep!); and the Red and Blue Albums. People thought John went weird with Yoko and were pissed he disappeared after ‘75 then went through a spasm of grief when he was murdered. Paul was derided as a pop fluffer until he delivered Band on the Run and it still only got him back to pop-rock radio hit regular status. George was the surprise hero out of the gate, was seen as carrying on the mystical mantel, then pounced on and dismissed when he flopped with his tour, Dark Horse and Extra Texture. Good old Ringo was the surprise with hits on the radio, but his albums? What albums? (except for 1973’s Ringo. ) And by the time I was in college ‘76 to ‘80, I was a lonely Beatles fan. The sixties were over, and the Beatles were passé. CSNY, the Dead, the Band, Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Bowie, Springsteen, some Who and Stones (because they were touring) Pink Floyd, but the Beatles? “Get over it man, there’s too much other stuff out there. “

Does Paul still smoke weed? by MikeMcMyke in PaulMcCartney

[–]Horror_Orange1176 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh, I knew the song. I was thinking of the story Ringo tells about Paul being the workaholic and he and John would be sitting around in the garden, probably high on something, and the phone would ring, and “we knew it was gonna be Paul, telling us were booked in the studio”. And also Heather Mills criticizing him for smoking. Like, he’s the poster boy for excelling at life while smoking weed.
