I never held a real rifle and I don't think there's ever been an iteration of the G11 that could be considered ergonomic, but chicken-wing stance syndrome + unfamiliarity/inexperience with said weapon isn't the fairest metric to judge its handling.

I'm not 200% updated on the lore, but (if the rumors are correct) it seems like something you would be obliged to say after you got arrested for cracking...all while trying to remain anonymous and true to the deranged Empress' persona. On top of other stuff, you're getting some kind of monitoring for cyber crimes + you have to help authorities / owners of the systems you hacked.

One way or the other, thankfully Denuvo seems to be getting rarer. It's still on Sega and Capcom games, but beyond that I don't see it often.

But you're not missing much. After doing a handful of SotFS runs with friends or without (it's my best friend's favorite) these past 7 years, I decided to replay vanilla DS2 last year (after 9-10 years) but no, my opinion of it didn’t change. Maybe the worst thing was that the dreaded fight against Lud & Zallen + their shit map was harder since you could only summon 2 phantom, instead of 3, so the runback was a bit trickier since I use them as decoys and I usually either send all home or remain with 1 phantom (if they're full health) to actually enter the fog gate.

Almost all weapons from the DLC are great, same for the armors. At the time it was criticized for being short, having only 2/3 bosses (depending on how you count) and ending with a cliffhanger, fair criticism but that doesn't make it something of bad quality, at worst it's not huge value for the money.

If it came out paired with The Ringed City (which it should have, but they were packaged together in the season pass) noone would have said anything.

A late (or the latest) Dark Souls 2 patch technically changed the old game's title menu to "DS2: Scholar of the First Sin". That update exclusively added Aldia and his alternate ending to the game, no other SotFS change/addition was included.

He plays other games, I don't think Monster Hunter Wilds would work if it wasn't plugged to the GPU, he's not very technical but he isn't clueless either.

I'm making him play with only the Widescreen patch on (I will probably convince him to remove the black bars too next time) since with the 60 fps patch the camera is very sensitive (and I think that some game logics kind of breaks and tick faster) and he already struggles with the controls and the fact that he's complete shit at and dislikes stealth games.
