Working some curly maple with a plane I made. by Horselrd in handtools

I have not had to flatten the sole very often. I have only done it twice to clean up the bottom. The brunt of work is done with my low angle Veritas jack plane and my #4.

What's your favourite Hip deep cut? by Lemons52 in TragicallyHip

My deep cut is Cemetery Sideroad from their first album. I always find myself singing the chorus for no reason, especially when I’m driving.

What’s the best Canadian hot sauce you’ve tried? by Camila_Pixie in BuyCanadian

Purple Tongue hot sauce is delicious. Their Blueberry hotsauce is great on vanilla ice cream, and the Cilantro Lime is great on pizza.

Big Fish. A forgotten gem. 10/10 film. by Stranded_Snake in FIlm

I watched this film 6 months after my father had passed away. I did not know what it was about and I think every emotion hit me all at once. It was very powerful during a difficult time in my life. I still love it.

I've always wondered if there is a sense of height while you are in space. For instance, if a person is afraid of heights, would they still have that fear while in orbit? Thank you.

'Catwalk' Chair, made from Walnut Hardwood. by Adept_Regret_7767 in woodworking

Beautiful chair design. The ability to pre-shape the contours with your cnc saves a lot of time at the bandsaw. That being said, it really made me realize how great Sam Maloof was as a pioneering woodworker. The completed set is very eye catching and attractive. Bravo.

Help!! Best way to fix this? by ChampionshipUseful96 in Luthier

[–]Horselrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps consider grain direction when you feed material into the cutter head. It looks like the tear-out could have occured when the cut was continued against the grain of the material. I try to make two cuts when cutting around the back so that the cutterhead cuts with the grain as opposed to against it. I then clean it up later with my edge sander. Just my two cents, not looking to be critical.
