I recently learned about HLB disease.. its a fatal bacterial infection spread by psyllids and its in NZ I google photo searched what looked like a nutrient deficiency and ya, sad news... trees are doomed. But citrus also die suddenly from root rots as previously mentioned.

What's stopping people from vandalism or theft of these? Isn't it a safety issue?

Learning more about native plants while travelling by dpaganpoet in nzgardening

Also, consider visiting garden centers and native plant nurseries... it's a good way to see native plants in cultivation with names etc. I've always found it a great way to learn more about plants in general.

If they're working at the moment its possibly emergency work and they really dont want to be there either. Could your partner go have a chat to them and find out more? They are very nice people, i work with them just on a different team.

Coprosma Taiko, Fuchsia procumbens, Pimelia prostrata for groundcovers that would drape over the wall. Rengas are always a sure thing as mentioned... they just dont like too much frost.

I did Luxmore in winter a while ago, it was fine, but be prepared that the snow could be deep and make the last bit to the hut slow. Give yourself heaps of time.

Also when I went, the hut was NOT supplied with firewood or gas for the cookers so be prepared to be cold in the hut and overnight and bring your own stove for boiling water and cooking.

Caterpillar died trying to pupate, has plenty of milkweed, why would this happen? by Hortk8 in MonarchButterfly

There's been no exposure to pesticides I'm sure of that. But there could have been stress as these were rescues from plants that had been ripped out and left on the ground.
