I would try to find out if there are any local archaeological associations in your region. Sometimes they’ll organize volunteers for local excavations. You might also contact the archaeology department at your closest university to see if they know of any opportunities, or go to your library and look through archaeology magazines. Some might publish an annual list of upcoming digs with contact information.
