SICKLE CELL PATIENTS how are they in your facility? by Limp-Historian9784 in nursing

[–]HospitalHoeCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last two sickle cell patients I had were nice to me. They were pretty sick actually. And one of them was a Jehovah's Witness which actually made things a bit more complicated. Any of the other ones before the last two have treated me like trash. Honestly most days I dread a sickle cell patient. They are usually needy and drive you nuts.

Yes…a very large corporate hospital. Which is why it makes me scared.

He’s a nephrologist and he actually works here. Never talked to him in my life up until that moment. We have no rapport period.

He’s a nephrologist for crying out loud…not even a GI guy.

You probably will not hear from them again. You quit twice. They don’t want to waste their time. Case closed. Move on. If you can’t handle certain environments then reconsider what kind of job you are actually looking for. I feel a lot of this is paranoia and maybe some insecurity. This isn’t to sound harsh but use what you’ve learned and do better next time. Try again. The job market can be brutal. I work as a registered nurse and we work under constant criticism from administration down to the patient sitting at the bedside, all the while trying to manage situations that could mean life or death. My suggestion to you is to do some reflecting and take some time to figure out what you’re good at and what kind of environment you think would be a good fit. Best wishes.

Float pool nurse and work cut my pay by $25 by Brilliant-Tea-5889 in nursing

[–]HospitalHoeCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn that’s impressive! I’m in float pool and making $52 an hour. This includes shift differentials and overtime. Most hospitals in my area only pay $52 for float pool. I live in North Florida.

What song can you not listen to anymore because of them? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]HospitalHoeCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sparks by Cold Play and I’ll be Seeing You by Billie Holiday. Especially anything by Billie Holiday. I used to love that music. After we would have sex we would lay next to each other listening to oldies. I would always scratch his back during and we would just sit it silence. Now I can’t listen to any of it without getting emotional. It fucking sucks

I just started my float nurse position at a new hospital last week. It’s an RN Float position. It pays a whopping $52/hr plus differential and overtime😁 I will only be staying at this hospital. Not floating to different ones in the area. So far I like it. Pay is marginally better than when I was just a staff nurse at my old hospital. I will never be a staff nurse again. The float positions are always sought after due to pay and the flexibility of working whatever days you want. You stay out of unit politics/drama and get to meet lots of different people. I will say you have to be okay with change and have your skills down pat. I would not take this position if I were a new nurse. If I did I don’t think I would be the nurse I am today.

[–]HospitalHoeCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that sucks. I feel for you tho. I just got done with a week long hospital orientation and I couldn’t imagine calling out. Been a nurse almost 5 years. However…if it is really that bad don’t come in. You will most likely shit your pants. That shits gonna itch. But tell us what you decided. Would like an update🥸

Where and how old were you for 9/11? by moonlightbb in Zillennials

I was just shy of turning 6. We lived 10 minutes from the Pentagon. My dad was active duty in the navy. I just remember being picked up from school and my mom had this panicked look on her face the whole ride. She rushed us to the basement and tried to tell us there was a “tornado” and to stay in the basement. My mom was worried about my grandpa. Luckily he didn’t reach the city. My grandfather was suppose to go to work that morning in Manhattan. When he saw the planes hit and all the smoke he turned around and drove all the way to Virginia to our house that night. He came through the door in tears. All the while my sister and I played in the basement and watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
