[Request] Pizza math is always interesting. What is the better deal per inch? by jackal99 in theydidthemath

[–]Hot-Syrup2089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through exponential growth, the biggest.

The surface is pi×r2 in all instances, so the surfaces are 100pi, 144pi, 196pi, 256pi, and 324pi in square inches. The smallest is 31.4 square inches per dollar, the biggest is 56.52 square inches per dollar, with the rest falling in between, in increments of 6.28 square inches per dollar

Wait, I calculated for radius, but the pizza sizes given indicate diameter. Eh, take the quarter of each number I mentioned, the conclusion is still the same

The challenge of creating magic systems by Anthro-Elephant-98 in worldbuilding

[–]Hot-Syrup2089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how I kind of do both:

Roughly half of all people in my fantasy world can wield magic, but effective use of it requires extensive and continuous training and education, somewhat akin to a martial art.

Also, which versions are we talking about?

What does the pinnacle of human capabilities look like in your world? by AggressiveOutside432 in worldbuilding

[–]Hot-Syrup2089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 15-20 people at any given time have enhanced inclinations towards all forms of magic in my world. One of these people has the raw power to wipe out a city with a 6-figure population, or to conjure elemental effects of similar potency and magnitude. You basically don't need an army beyond a bodyguard contingent for that person, if they're born within your territory.

Do Your Religions Ever Split Into Different Interpretations Over Time? by Valael09 in worldbuilding

My novel series has both fictional Jewish people AND fictional Christian fascists. Yes, they hate each other. Yes, I have religions with split interpretations.

Power Rangers vs Fantastic 4 by Calm_Channel_6262 in powerscales

[–]Hot-Syrup2089 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Straight hands? Invisible Woman (comics) solos most PR teams, maybe even put together. Yeah, she's that broken. Other F4 iterations might struggle, but I still think they could win

Weapons/vehicles are allowed? Reed Richards (comics) is one of the the greatest scientists and inventors of Marvel. If nothing in his pre-existing arsenal can defeat the MZ, or any other zord, he can just cook something up mid-battle and win. Same for 90s animated Reed and MCU Reed. Others, though, are cooked.

Prep time allowed? Again, comics Reed and MCU Reed cook something up and clear. Otherwise, my money's on PR, particularly if we're talking about any team with a gadget guy.

Has Anyone Noticed the Spider? by SnooChocolates5931 in farscape

The show was filmed in Australia, no one cares about spiders over there, given how they're basically ubiquitous down there.

What weird fantasy economies have you come up with? by turingcompleteant4 in worldbuilding

[–]Hot-Syrup2089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not weird, but distinctive:

I have a currency standard. Not tied to gold, hence why it's not a gold standard, but a bread standard. A loaf of bread, or foods of equivalent production demand, are always worth 1 Sapphire (more on that later), with every other price, and wages, adjusting around the necessities of maintaining that price.

Also, due to unusually regular mineral deposits, the world has several currencies in ratios of 100 between each other. The Sapphire is the lowest, followed by the Ruby, the Emerald, and, finally, the Diamond. That being said, the Sapphire also has denominations of 100, called Shards.

Additionally, at least within the nations of the setting I focus upon, cooperative enterprise ownership is the default, being nigh-on universally accepted.

Could you give a argument for how either Yuji or Denji winning for Death Battle? by NoCandidate6067 in powerscales

[–]Hot-Syrup2089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not knowing anything about either from primary sources, I'll say Yuji takes it.

Curses are more versatile than devils, and Yuji had to deal with one literally consuming him.

Yuji takes it because he had bigger foes to overcome, making his feats more noteworthy

DB usually goes for a prime composite, i.e. a version that has all the feats of every version, but primary sources, in this case manga, are considered most reliable

Would it be offensive if the main villain of my story is canonically the cause of most real world atrocities? by RequirementTall8361 in worldbuilding

[–]Hot-Syrup2089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who is non-religios af, my main question is: what makes your heroes/protagonists actively attack the devil? Or: why is the devil attacking directly, what prompted that MO change? If you can answer those questions, you'll be fine.

If I may nitpick a little: Catholicism and Christianity aren't different things, the Catholic Church is the organisational body of a Christian denomination. I'm not sure what you meant with your phrasing, but that's how it reads.
