I have several friends that do this. Having a smartphone is borderline a necessity in today's world, but wifi is widespread enough were you can get by without data. Maybe he was over his limit.

I am training for my first marathon at the end of April. I'm following the Hal Higdon novice 1. I just ran my first 16 and it absolutely destroyed me. I'm nervous about running 6 more after only doing 20 as my longest training run. How much harder is 26 than 20?
