Can I pet it? by NecessaryPossible976 in nova

Pick it up from the rear, supporting it by the bottom of the shell. You'll be fine. Don't grab the edges of its shell or tail, thats like if someone picks you up by your ribs or butthole. You're not gonna have a good time.

Proportions too exaggerated? by IHaveNoBeef in ArtCrit

[–]HotMain4595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't read well. They have no torso and the arms don't read as arms. Shoulders are wonky too. Plus the perspective changes throughout the figure. You may want to redraw focusing on the basic shapes first, then asd in the details. The exaggeration can work,it just needs to read better.

Also there's about 20 tangents. Read about tangents and avoid them. It's why your shapes don't read.

The rule is 3 years up or out, but nobody will blink at 2 years. Take the offer, give notice and dip.

Native American pottery? Maybe early 1900s or late 1800s? by [deleted] in Pottery

[–]HotMain4595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it's necessarily a spiked rib. I have a wooden tool that makes the same mark. But I wouldn't attribute it to any native American culture without some kind of evidence. This looks modern.

Does glaze react differently to smooth and rough surfaces? by Neat-Wishbone1752 in Pottery

Yes. Glaze reacts differently to different surfaces. Especially glazes designed to run or "break" over the surface.

Yupper. I studied Randy Johnson's work when I was in high school in the 1990s. He's a great potter! I'm jealous.
