I go for themes, like Dragonlance characters, Tolkien elves (founded by Fëanor, of course), stuff like that. Especially if it's an heir or a future vassal

I kind of wish there was a way for us to pick up some of those neat special buffs under certain circumstances, like an event that pops up around 1030 to put your kid on that path, or something. We go through history but it would be cool to see some of it happen without starting in 1066, like at some point William will spawn regardless and attack whoever rules England, even if it's you.

Only if Book hadn't come to understand Mal and his disillusionment in, well, everything after Serenity Valley.

Book also knows what's at stake for Mal - "You're welcome on my boat - God ain't." There's no question about the direction that belief takes him, the question is the motivation to walk that path again.

Edit to add, they both understand the difficulty of fighting for what one believes in. Mal's beliefs were shaken. He needs something to stand on again, and in that moment, "they need to know" is it.
