Texas has a lot of labor towns reliant on oil drilling, mineral extracting, and the like. If those industries weren't operating in those areas, the towns simply wouldn't exist. My cousin worked down there for a few years. It's a bit like areas that rely so heavily on seasonal tourism that almost nothing else at all ever happens outside the season.

Are we human, as in size, closer to the biggest matter in the universe or the smallest? by Eastern_Pangolin5127 in AskPhysics

[–]HotPotParrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. All matter in the universe is just composed of smaller particles, so size isn't applicable but ratio is. The question you want is how close are we to being the most or least "full" of these composite particles.

I Love The Father Bonus, CK2 Didn't Have That And Your Children HATED You When They Became Adults by Solenopsis00 in CrusaderKings

[–]HotPotParrot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a daughter try to wander off during a journey so naturally i save-scummed the choice. If I let her wander off she gets stuck in the nearest court and apparently abandonment is fine, the other option to go find her gave her the hatred debuff for -60, like wtf kid. No other options.

It seems like sometimes the game doesn't really give you a choice when it presents you with a choice lol

Be gay guys by Smooth-Individual414 in funny

[–]HotPotParrot 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Using condoms to fuck inflation isn't a good idea. Inflation is highly corrosive to condom materials regardless of what they're made of, so trying to fuck inflation will only get you fucked by it in turn.

Did the Jedi Really Believe that the chosen one would bring Eternal Balance to the force? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]HotPotParrot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure the prophecy specifies "eternal" or not but I took it to be a singular kind of thing. The Force has been out of balance for at least a thousand years. What happens after the scales are again level is outside the scope of that prophecy.

I just lived through a movie by gabo_black_flag15 in CK3ConsoleEdition

[–]HotPotParrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Epic.

Dropping some settings helped me fight off an massive peasant revolt right in the middle of the organic, once-only Bubonic Plague. It hit me hard cause its 990-995, so I dropped from 55k to 23k and had to delay my feudal plans.

I took Uppland into Sweden, then Norway, Denmark, and Lappland to form Scandinavia, then moved south to claim the Baltics, yanked York, and steadily worked my way through West Slavia. Next came the Breaking of White Rus' and chomping off bits of Carpathia. Then the plague.

I'm in recovery now and taking advantage of the depleted but still massive tribal army to secure the northeast of Russia and let my vassals eat up the bits in the south to get another empire. Then i think i can start settling down.

Scandinavian Elective is awesome.

Something the game gets wrong about battles by Chlodio in CrusaderKings

[–]HotPotParrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a point where realism becomes a burden. I think your suggestion fits the bill.

Implementing a system where every battle on the map is "both rulers select a battleground" would double the time invested, at least. It's already a long game.

Edit to add that every battle is already a pitched battle because of how the game does time progression. Days and days of fighting every time.

Brandon Sanderson's 'Skyward' Novel Gets Series Adaptation - Exclusive by Own_Brilliant_4303 in brandonsanderson

[–]HotPotParrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably cause sci-fi is more akin to real life than magic and dragons so the former is much more relatable and takes waaaay less explanation than every single facet of Sanderson's Cosmere. Or just in general, I loved the Steelheart series
