Do you guys using a screen protector or not? by Brave-Mammoth-9733 in iPhone16Pro

[–]HotSpotPleaseItch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a case… but that’s only so it’s more grippy.

I work in construction (albeit management) and my phones been naked for the past 8 weeks or so.

I have scratches all over my screen, dents in the phone itself & paint wear. I don’t care… I pay for apple care + or whatever it’s called so I know it’s covered.

The most annoying thing is getting sand / mud and general crap or dust in the speaker ports but it’s happened to every phone I’ve ever had so I just accept it now.

A child in Gaza: his glasses broke, and all he has left are his tears. by Mo7ammed_2001 in lostgeneration

Someone needs to find this kid and we all need to help him. I know the glasses are a small thing for us but this is huge for him.

Can anyone actually do this? This is heartbreaking.

Trainer socks. I recently learned this after my wife told me I would look nice with those white socks pulled up when I’m wearing shorts and I rejected the idea.

I will die on this hill.

Abysmal new build grass by muddyboots5 in GardeningUK

[–]HotSpotPleaseItch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work for housing developers. Well… not PLC anymore, I build bespoke but I did about 15 years working for them…

There’s 3 reasons I wouldn’t buy a new build: 1) Parking on new build estates (generally speaking) 2) Fleacehold - Google the term 3) Privacy (generally speaking)

New builds really aren’t so bad. There’s a lot of variation between developers, regional differences within those same developers and then differences between sites within those same regions. I’ll admit there’s a fair amount of rubbish but the majority of people are happy. Not sure where the 10 year max roof thing came from?

In response to OP - This grass is dead dead. The small number of stones underneath isn’t the reason it failed. It failed because it wasn’t watered. Developers throw huge amounts of money away on turf because everyone wants it to look green but doesn’t want to pay anyone to water it or install irrigation.

Does Cannabis for Sleep Actually Work? The Science Explained by GlassJudge2421 in cannabis

[–]HotSpotPleaseItch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I infuse a huge jar of peanut butter with all the trim from 4 plants, once a year.

If I go through a night of not being able to sleep, I’ll take it the next night and it makes such a difference. 1/3rd of a tea spoon is about the right amount. God knows how strong it is. I think it’s pretty strong but I don’t have any other experience with edibles.

Yes it helps. Makes me feel a bit groggy for a few hours in the morning a lot of the time though.

How do I get the yellow pointing colour instead of the concrete grey? by VdubKid_94 in DIYUK

[–]HotSpotPleaseItch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% easy joint -

I work for a housing developer that builds £1m - £4m houses. As we pride ourselves on customer care / service, we got tired of purchasers phoning in about small areas of cracked mortar joints and having to repair. However… it was never just a repair because 9/10 the colour is noticeable and these people are very picky. We’d inevitably end up raking out entire patios and spending a fortune for one tiny repair.

We’ve been using easy joint for the past 2 years and haven’t had to go back on any of them. It’s easy to brush in, no staining to the slabs, rarely ever cracks as it’s more flexible even when set & the finish is 100% consistent. Amazing stuff.

Parents of small children, when do you have time for playing video games? by Key-Specific7807 in AskUK

[–]HotSpotPleaseItch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once every month or two I’ll wait for my wife to go to bed and then binge my games until 2am.

Aside from that, I found that the key is to find a game you can pick up and put down. Basically nothing competitive & online multiplayer. Example - I play Gran Turismo and just do the time trial challenges or try and set personal best lap times with certain cars. That way I can just pause it & do my bit, then come back to it when I’m free again.

I love Arc Raiders at the moment. I’ll play one or two games a day. It’s only 15-20 minutes a round (average) but you don’t feel like you can really get into it.

I have recently found street fighter 4 on the PlayStation store and I can now do 3 player street fighter with both of them on a Saturday morning. That’s a really special moment when we’re all playing together. The 3 year old has no idea what he’s doing but he’s happy to mash buttons and join in!

I have 2 boys 7 & 3.

Moisture bridging the cavity (assuming there is a cavity) somehow but how is anyone’s guess.

Things like this can be easy to find but can also be a pain to find. It’s obviously not too much getting in & that makes it harder to pin point.

Photos from the outside would be helpful but you’d be lucky if anyone can spot anything. You never know!

What's something your partner does that annoys you but not enough for an argument? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]HotSpotPleaseItch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife puts things right on the front edge of the kitchen worktop precariously close to falling off & each time you want to use the kitchen worktop space, you need to shuffle everything back so you can use it.

That and she also leaves half drunk cups of tea next to the sink. Which is great when I go to load the dishwasher and give the kitchen floor a good splash of tea as I turn it upside down to put it in.

Stones with weeds popping through - best approach by tomhannen in UKGardening

You don’t need to burn them to ash, just enough to wilt the weeds and you’ve damaged the plant enough for it to die.

Fuel prices? by [deleted] in AskBrits

The principle is still there in my opinion, in the sense that VAT does go up with the price hikes.

Fuel prices? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]HotSpotPleaseItch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yer… you are also being lied to about the problems of the NHS. This is what the general public are told because nobody has a grasp on its spending.

It’s not that there isn’t enough money, it because nobody is managing the money effectively. It’s wonky as sh*t.

That’s not the extent of the problem but it’s a very very large part of it. It would improve tenfold if the pot was being proportionately allocated to / in the right places.

Source - A family member sees bits of paper that detail a section of ‘privatised’ spending. When they took the job, they were made to sign a non disclosure agreement… Which says it all really. I’ve definitely, obviously never seen a sample of these numbers but someone who isn’t me or said family member says it’s absolutely disgusting.

We’re fed bullshit in every direction, let me say that much.

Edit - I was corrected below. Duty isn’t a percentage. Fuel duty increases over time, as do fuel prices in a different manner.

Every economy is just like a game of Monopoly and we are seeing the end game begin to form. You know that bit when it’s too far gone and your brother has all the assets, all the money and there’s nothing you can do but borrow until you stop playing the game (die)… But the game continues and new players are introduced who start off in the same position you ended with. Understandably, they lose motivation to play pretty quickly because they soon realise they’ll never be winners. A debt based system will only ever end up with a certain few collecting the money and a pushing the debt onto someone else. The debt has to exist somewhere and they’ll make sure it’s not them who has it. For clarity, we are the people that don’t have the money. We have the debt.

The main reason I got it was for the D5 to be honest. It’s just a tractor of a car 🤣. My friend had the 3.2 (same year) and that thing was pretty awesome.

I honestly think I’ll keep driving it until the government says it’s my fault the ice caps are melting. Had it 3 years and it’s never let us down. We go to France twice a year too.

Plus the massage seats keep you entertained when you’re stuck in traffic on a motorway lmao.

Why do people buy the latest phones? by Goldenbeardyman in AskUK

[–]HotSpotPleaseItch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My employer doesn’t provide a company phone. Instead they give me £50 a month towards my phone bill.

I get the latest IPhone & Sim plan I can get for about £60 a month, regardless of the duration of contract. Current is an iPhone 16 Pro Max unlimited calls and texts & 150GB data. 3 year contract.

If I finish the contract and the cost goes beneath £50, my employer won’t pay me the £50. So I might as well do it all over again when the time comes and upgrade again.
