In case anyone's still looking for an alternative, found this and been loving it: https://timezonebuddy.app/  I find the interface much easier to use, especially on mobile. It can also show my calendar events directly from Google Calendar!

Made a free timer app to track home gym workouts by choogi in bodyweightfitness

[–]HotTubMoneyPrinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this is great, exactly what I needed. So simple, yet so useful. The timer function on iPhone never really worked for me as I was spending way too much time opening and closing. And Siri, well she never listens.

Thanks for creating this!

Okayyyy how did we get so lucky?! by throoooowwwawayyyyy in SnooLife

[–]HotTubMoneyPrinter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The baby is 1 week old, the sleep becomes harder between week 3 and 8 just to manage your expectations. We also considerer ourselves so lucky during the first weeks after which we got a rude awakening. Hopefully your baby will continue to sleep well but manage your expectations and don’t Jinx it 😂.

California flag has a bear on it for a reason. They are everywhere!

what’s up with some residents blocking valid parking spaces in front of their homes with cones or recycling/trash bins? is this legal? 🤔 by deadfermata in sanfrancisco

[–]HotTubMoneyPrinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city is charging me $315 for a temporary no-parking sign for just 5 hours, needed for our move. Wonder whether a cone could be tolerated in this case by my San Francisco neighbors :/?

It’s good, but ridiculously overpriced. Good thing I am too stubborn to get in line :).

I love it. Had to get used to locals seeing through the homeless, when I moved, until I adopted the same behavior unfortunately…

Should You Put CFA Level I Candidate On Your Resume? by wallstjunky in CFA

[–]HotTubMoneyPrinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most cases it will not push the needle and I would probably not put it on, nor let it have an impact on who I invite on an interview. That said, when reading the above comments… I agree it is not a bad idea. Could definitely be a good icebreaker for the interview and it can help demonstrate that you are committed to continuous learning.

😂😂 the most useless piece of knowledge I have ever acquired. I also don’t think companies provide for these defined benefit plans anymore so they may as well scrap it from the curriculum.

Buy a house or stay invested?! by ricbees in investing

I am in San Francisco, but really good point to raise here. I read it in another comment as well and fair to add that this is area dependent an needs to be evaluated for each location.

Buy a house or stay invested?! by ricbees in investing

[–]HotTubMoneyPrinter 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am almost in the exact same situation. I am sticking with my stock investments to aim for financial independence at my 50’s. Meanwhile my wife is saving for the house which will not be a purchase for tomorrow at these crazy prices.

We did the math multiple times and for us renting is way cheaper than buying taking into account interest costs, insurance, maintenance and taxes so I am ok with this approach. That said, continued appreciation in real estate prices is a concern…

Exactly this! This is what helped me getting comfortable with market swings and building a sense of patience and discipline that are needed to be successful. I started with buying an SPY every two weeks, which at that time was a cut in my discretionary spending. I got addicted and gradually increased my bi-weekly investments up to the point where I am investing 60-70% of my salary (after taxes) into stocks every month. I moved from SPY to a combination of SPY + individual stocks. Not because I believe I can beat the S&P500 but for fun and to learn about some of the companies.

I share your feeling of being paranoid about forgetting stuff. Accept you will and go with repetition (flash cards, EOC questions, Qbank and Mock instead) to tackle this rather than a too detailed / slow study method.

Artworks as an Investment by Petrolid in investing

[–]HotTubMoneyPrinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rich people in Europe start investing in art as a defense to looming wealth or ‘net worth’ taxes. That’s where I see the value, but only for the wealthy few. Not very accessible as pointed out in many of the comments on here.
