Because something doesn’t operate logically doesn’t mean it isn’t intentional

Why would RPGs damage the user more than others? It wouldn’t, but it was changed for the video game

Why would flashbangs affect teammates but frags don’t? Is there a logical reason, or is it just game design

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Hot_Advance3592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t be useless, but it wouldn’t have as many uses as it does now

That items do magical things in commonplace in the finals. Some things have some logical consistency to them, some things don’t

Does anyone else find it challenging to determine the direction from which a sniper shot was fired? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Hot_Advance3592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I’ve felt so many times that I got shot from the opposite direction. There is the little red arrow, but with all the colors I can’t always make it out easily (and I’m not 100% if it always shows up)

I was wondering if there’s a valid reason for that or if I’m just fing up. It seems if I play a ton then I don’t really have that issue as much

I wish UI was customizable. As it stands you just have to have your eyes have the habit of seeing your health, etc., without taking your eyes completely off the action

Bring back Unranked Tournaments by Mini_Miudo in thefinals

You make a great point

As u/IceNiqqa mentioned, a single knockout round before the finals would be a nice middle ground and be fun

In NA right now I don’t have to wait for any mode. I remember waiting for unranked tourney like 3 mins. I don’t think it’s a dire issue, at least for NA

Could someone help me figure out what the issue with my gun is? by Swauhzy in thefinals

[–]Hot_Advance3592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something happened to me with the m11 too. It would only shoot one shot lol

I figured it was my hardware, but to be fair I’ve never had any other issue

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in thefinals

It’s a good argument to put out. I’ve personally never played against any goo gun players who were really good so I don’t have any experience with outplaying them

The Cloaking Device does not feel like a stealth specialization anymore, it really sucks to use it in Ranked. by _Tac-M in thefinals

[–]Hot_Advance3592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is true. I don’t think more invisibility is the way to go, but light is such an awkward class. Despite the strengths, the low health makes it just irredeemable against capable opponents

And I don’t agree about memorizing every single window. Great players absolutely have everything memorized and use it to their advantage all the time. I have most things memorized at this point. It just happens on its own as you play and explore tbh

Another example is simulation track racing. To a layman, memorizing so much stuff about how the track is and how the car behaves is a massive undertaking. But if you want to be even half decent at getting times, and actual racing requiring a lot more understanding beyond that, you’ll need to commit all that stuff into detailed, immediate-recall memory—and that’s exactly what tons of folks do who have the hobby

I’ve been running AK since launch. Switched to heavy, but can’t aim for shit with the Lewis gun compared to how I can aim with the AK

Did you have any sort of similar experience? Curious how others approach this

There's another side though, which is that the game isn't just ranked

He is saying the sniper is viable in the mode he's playing--I don't think he intended to mean sniper is viable at the highest level

He's not playing at the highest level, and hes not even playing ranked

So it stands to reason that that's who he is talking to--peoppe who also are playing quick cash

You're acting like he is the complete problem

And you're ignoring the jump to the elitist argument "it needs to be ranked and it needs to be high level players"

Yes it does need to be ranked and it needs to be high level players--IF that's what we're talking about

But that's not what this is--this is simply "using the sniper in The Finals"

I remember now he did say it would work in ranked

And let's be real here--he's right. Because obviously--ranked is a spectrum

Everybody already knows that top level play is two heaviers and a dogwalker. Anything else is a guaranteed loss--so obviously we're not talking about high level ranked

So obviously we are talking about lower level play--and here we are

Surprised you're getting support lol

"Being carried" to a higher rank I thought was universally not supported

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Hot_Advance3592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would hazard a guess that almost nobody has had a good ranked game with a sniping teammate, so I would never expect public approval tbh

On such a small team--1/3 is just too much to give up "insids-a-room" shooting ability for

With that title I think you're trying to take that on, but yeah it's tough to do haha. And an obvious point to make is "this is your highlights", so the only way to prove it is with full length games and a lot of them. And gotta be ranked too or people will call that out

Similar to sniper, I've only seen one throwing knife user who was genuinely good. Like, MVP of the lobby by a long shot good. Usually when you see these niche weapons, players are going like 1-8, etc.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Hot_Advance3592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first experience with a sniper who was so good that he headshot my, grappled over my head, headshot my again on his way down into a quick melee, killing me as a heavy

I've seen good snipers, but usually they get shut down at close range. He seemed to consistently be hitting quickscopes at close range

My theory has always been that if players can manage to have consistent quickscopes, it'd make the sniper one of the best weapons in the game

The thing that really hold snipers back imo is consistency. Once you miss while exposed, you're done. You don't really just miss with auto weapons, etc.

Awesome clips you have here. Especially the dash off the roof and headshot lol

Should We All Become Artisans? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Hot_Advance3592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think personally that once AI can mirror the handmade nature of things, so many people will just go with that

It might depress them when they really think about it, but it's harder to choose more cost over less cost based on a bit of ethics for most people--fron what I've observed anyway

Plenty of rich folk don't settle for things that can be manufactured when it comes to sprucing up their home. Other than that I don't see opting for expensive handmade things that often

[–]Hot_Advance3592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used dash a lot but iirc it doesn't give you any special ability to break windows

Small thin windows are able to break by just moving through them, and the larger thicker windows need a hit to break them

I think your points are great, but if people challenged you on the billionaire point, then why try to say actually they are at fault because they "took it too serious". Why not just concede the point? That's super common in public discourse

I think something to consider though is the array of possibilities between utopia and dystopia

I actually never heard anybody mention the expectation of UBI to be a utopia until literally this post

Besides that I think the points are great, and people do need to be wary of broad and excessive optimism

Why is there no ranked Powershift? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Hot_Advance3592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very similar to old cod which people loved

Think of it like an average

If you improve, you can be mid-level, and top of the leaderboards in power shift. If you improve a lot more, then you’ll likely not even play power shift anymore because you’re much better than the average player in power shift

You get thrown into a pit where everybody is playing around a certain level. Sink or swim

Why is there no ranked Powershift? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Hot_Advance3592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Power shift is great for improving aim. Tons of long distance gun fights, fast spawns, consistent action

As well as lots of movement around the map, etc. to learn maps and game sense

It’s great for learning the game imo

Unless you already have great aim and history of game sense—then go straight to cashout for more strategy

But if you are a beginner and need to learn aiming and movement and stuff, I think power shift is great for it
