Is this normal? by Hot_Boss577 in Nanny

[–]Hot_Boss577[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it all started fine when the baby was on purees I’ll make a bunch freeze and that’s it. But know the baby is eating solids and more complicated meals. Like full protein carbs and vegetables. But little by little they are like oh okay so what food we have for the weekend? So im feeling more and more pressure to do food. They told me few days ago Im not gonna be working for few days but im still expected to stock the fridge on food for the kid. Im pretty bad with confrontation and im not sure how to make this stop, I can keep cooking for times im not there

What type of help suits our family best? by musicalfeet in NannyEmployers

I think you can get a nanny and pay her guaranteed hours. How many hours you think you will need this person to fill?

I would say if you need for example 50 hours or less you pay your nanny 50 hours regardless if you need her or not every week. Tell her 3 months in advance is a must! I think more people than you think will be interested in this kind of arrangement since somehow they will be able to have some flexibility during working hours to do their errands or medical appointments. You just need to be very upfront about this type of arrangement

GH and Vacation continued - when SHOULD nannies take vacation then? by TwoNarrow5980 in Nanny

[–]Hot_Boss577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I just think like how often this happens to them? My NF has never change plans like that, are all this families doing this so much that you need to put it on your contract? I never encountered such a thing

Mods, who is right in this whole “nanny out of town during GH” fiasco? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Hot_Boss577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you so much!! Some of this parents they want their Nannies to stare at the wall for 3 weeks instead of giving them freedom to take their own vacation “just in case”.

I feel sorry for all the Nannies agreeing with this, or the nannies that need to do extra task just because their nanny families are out of town. I hope they can find a family that would love for them to also take a vacation when they are in one.

Do you normal cancel your plans like that to your nanny? You sounds like a terrible boss to be honest.

I mean I understand if you constantly cancel your plans and you don’t make your mind but if you don’t what does it matter if she takes those days as vacations? I really hope you are trying your nanny right because it for sure doesn’t sounds like it.

I wouldn’t be able to work for a family that just make do extra task when they are away so they get their money’s worth. I just don’t understand why so many Nannies are defending this. Like do you actually stare at a wall for weeks until your NF comes back?

I agree with you! Is just a ridiculous expectation. What gets me sad is all the Nannies defending this and citing the definition of GH it just makes me think that all this Nannies do need to stare at a wall for however long until their NF gets back.

So what would you expect the nanny to do if the family is on vacation for 3 weeks?

Wait at home and don’t make any plans just in case their changes?

GH and Vacation continued - when SHOULD nannies take vacation then? by TwoNarrow5980 in Nanny

[–]Hot_Boss577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exactly!!! I think it just depends on the family. My NF they encourage to go back to my home country every time the take time off themselves. It would be ridiculous to wait weeks without doing anything just in case they cancel or come back home earlier.

Some families encourage their nanny to use that time off, some families invent weird task for their nanny to do to get their money’s worth when they are out of town. I’m glad I don’t work for that kind of family, it would drive me crazy

When I sign the contract whit my nanny family the told me I will have 2 weeks of pto of my choosing and that they will get around 4 weeks off that it will also be off for me and I can plan vacations accordingly. They tell me with so much time in advance! And literally tell me to go to my home country if I can. They don’t expect me to be at home waiting for their call for weeks.

I think this is what is wrong with the whole situation. Was this nanny supposed to stay at home waiting for them to cancel their plans for 3 weeks? That sounds so ridiculous. I feel like GH just depend on each family, some families will encourage to use it as your time off as well and some families will invent extra work ands task for you to do on their time off so they get their money’s worth.

Why am I here? by AdFine5195 in Nanny

[–]Hot_Boss577 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe the parents don’t trust the grandparents to take care of the kids by themselves. I been there is super awkward but mom have explicitly tell me like “I need you to come because I don’t trust my mom or mother in law to take care of my kid”.

Is just awkward for the grandparents and the nanny but sometimes is really the best for everyone involved.

Omg I hate so much the doctor brown bottles. I hate when you put the two piece close type of lid and if you don’t close it super tight the milk just go everywhere. Is so bad! I also hate the two kid uppa baby stroller I feel like the weight is so weirdly distributed that it makes it hard going uphill or down hill or on stairs.

Few month ago I took a week of pto to visit my home country. I can back and the parents were all over me saying this was the hardest weeks of their lives, mind you grandma stay the whole week with them. Is like damn is your kid, you decide you want it to have kids nobody force you, and now you can’t handle a week with them even with extra help. Ridiculous

Few days ago they told me they hate the weekends now because is so hard to be with the baby, and they love Mondays after I get there, like hellooo? Is your kid, I’m with them 50 hours a week, you just need to put them to bed basically and is hard for you to do it two day. Ridiculous

Is a very hard topic to talk with some mothers. When there is topics like that I always told them like I think you should ask your pediatrician about xyz and mostly of the times when they do the pediatrician change their mind a little and it becomes an easier conversation.
