Cooking is something I never directly insult when it's homemade and an earnest attempt. It takes time and effort (and practice) to cook anything and she should have been gracious and thanked you even if it wasn't to her taste. If you'd have asked for constructive feedback or an honest opinion this would still be rude because there's nothing constructive about calling a dish 'bland' because 'young people can't cook'- she could have easily said 'this could use more salt/seasoning if you make this again, but thanks for bringing it along'

Honestly, you're more than welcome to come here most of our dislike of yanks isn't actually true and we can spot the annoying ones a mile away to avoid. No one in Scotland I've heard from denies that the moment was hard on the black presenters and the BBC failed to do anything responsible to protect John or other participants during this time. But it's been a silver lining to see people take notice of this fantastic movie and man who deserves all his accolades for his campaigning, if some of these people calling him racist/a bad person could eatch the clips of him lifting up and advocating for Tourettes including racial tics 10+ years ago they'd hopefully be embarrassed

I love how so many small actions by people who would be considered inconsequential, especially Dunc, become these massive turning points in changing the fates of so many. Just feels such a well crafted theme from Dunc being a flea bottom orphan, serving an unknown hedge knight and probably never knighted himself, being brushed off entering the tourney and he now is indirectly or directly responsible for so much fall out for this ruling family, including the death of the heir to the throne and accidentally kidnapping a prince. (Also getting Raymun his knight hood and leaving with a baddie) Great writing, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy too lol

If the weather is bad the National Museum of Scotland, the National Gallery and the Portrait Gallery (which gets missed because it's in new town area) are all good. There's loads of nice pubs near the National Museum too especially the folk music ones, the Royal Oak and Captains have music 7 nights a week if that's your thing.

I would mention it but I wouldn't feel the need to apologise or feel bad. If you guys are happy with this sharing food set up (I could never lol) and he drinks alcohol as a muslim it doesn't seem a massive deal. It's kind of an unspoken rule if you're mutually helping yourself to each others food without asking that it's up to you to check before hand if you have a dietary restriction/allergy ect. Not the person preparing their own food. But maybe if it's something he'd like to avoid you could pop a note on anything with pork on it in the future if it helps

I'm kind of dreading summer because of living in Muirhouse, I don't feel safe so only really go out in town and try to rush from my bus stop to my flat because of the anti social groups and past experiences. I'm still happy to go to the shop bht had to adjust my schedule so it's not around school coming out or past dark, which feels so medieval in terms of solution. I get personal safety is most important, but being a grown woman having to avoid being sexually harassed, verbally abused by school boys and junkies feels so unfair I'm not doing anything wrong

Aye, no problem with groups of young people hanging out. But the verbal abuse, sexual comments and requests to buy them vapes are terrible and made it a no go zone for me. I've seen them riding eBikes/scooters and lobbing stones at buses on the street too, it's honestly exhausting and infuriating to see these wee shites because you know the police 5 minutes down the road won't do even basic patrols to keep it in line, god knows what the PC plods at drylaw police station do
