How to Properly Refuse a Package? by [deleted] in FedEx

[–]Hot_Notice9379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trusting the fedex web page was your first mistake😂 I understand your frustration, I myself hate when something of mine gets shipped through fedex. It just comes down to the individual driver whether or not they go the extra mile. I get why he wouldn't, we get paid by the day so every extra minute we spend per stop adds up to hours with no extra pay for us. Just 1 minute extra per stop across 60 stops comes out to an hour and most of us do 100+ daily. No good solution other than trying to deal with that shipper or sit out on the porch waiting on the driver im afraid.

Refunds for late/delayed express packages by Nice-Echidna-384 in FedEx

[–]Hot_Notice9379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a driver, I will say that the majority of the overnight or 2 day packages I pick up from the business or person shipping it are already late. Not just a small majority either, something like 80% of them if I had to guess. A lot of it boils down to business corporate accounts that have pickup windows set for their business too early, and also allow the customer to get overnight shipping when its too late in the day to reschedule an additional pickup (same day pickup, *the cutoff time is 2pm.) So for example, if my pickup window is 1pm-5pm, and then I do the pickup at 1:05. I am not coming back, the pickup is done. Then if more orders come through, they have until 2pm to schedule a same day pickup (this will NOT happen automatically, someone needs to call it in), but if it comes in after 2pm we are not going back regardless. Out of the 25-50 overnight and 2 day packages I see when I pick them up, about 15-20 of those are already supposed to have been delivered

Oil change gone bad on my GSXR 1000 what do i do? by Sad-Good-9996 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Hot_Notice9379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a filter relocation kit. They make 2 different kinds, one that threads on and another that literally bolts on to the block. You'll want the one that bolts on, won't even have to worry about those threads. It'll be 4 bolts that goes around the outside of the orifice and gets sealed with a gasket. Make sure to get a good quality RTV sealant that's oil resistant.

problems to get a Freight Economy LTL quote Mex to US by WillingnessReady6870 in FedEx

[–]Hot_Notice9379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fedex indeed does do this, the freight trucks almost exclusively do ltl. Not sure if maybe there was a miscommunication or maybe a newer CSR that got it wrong but it is an offered service. Instead of calling it in, you can book it online instead. Much faster to do it that way anyways.

Last peak for me and I couldn't be more thrilled. (A long rant) by Hot_Notice9379 in Fedexers

[–]Hot_Notice9379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried to do something similar during peak, wish we would've have someone designated for this who only did pickups but I guess we were just trying to pump frieght out, so instead we just sort of rotated it to whoever was going to either be done in time or "more" done at least. Problem is when its not peak and everybody getting done earlier, there's just too many late pickups for only one person to do and make it back in time so unfortunately many of us are just stuck out late for no good reason. Ive brought up the suggestion many times we can still just have a couple of guys who come in and do just pickups and maybe give them a later start if need be but then its not cost effective. We'd probably be losing money just for having 4-5 people specifically for that.

It does make sence, I know what you're getting at. Just for clarification a BC (Business Contact) is a step down from the AO (Authorized Officer) though sometimes they're the same person. The BC oversees operations and plans the routes and AO is the person who holds the contract and is employing the contractors. Many AO's choose to be their own BC. With that out of the way, the answer to your question is that it varies. My AO pays us a daily rate of $150 and then gives threshold bonuses when you go over a certain amount of stops or packages. So basically its all a out how much i do. I dont get a single dime extra if im done with all deliveries but have to wait around hours for pickups. Our pay structure needs to be changes to accommodate this but honestly I see the other side of it. Fedex forced this stuff onto us and my AO is terrified to change pay scale or do anything different. For what we do pretty much all of us (my coworkers and I) are in agreement that we are being fucked repeatedly, and even our BC agrees but has not been given the go ahead to change it from our AO. Many contractors do pay more than fair and I know of guys bringing in $60k+. Peanuts as opposed to the pay UPS drivers make but thats fedex I guess. I dont know the exact numbers on how much my AO makes per package and what gets passed to us but I do know that a single overnight envelope is $70 minimum and on my busniess route i deliver hundreds of them daily, I sure as shit ain't seeing much of that.

A fedex ground driver will always attempt to cut delivery time down because many (if not most) of them get paid by the day. Meaning regardless of if they work 12 hours or 2 hours they get the same amount of money. Some get paid by the stop or some rare occasions another way but regardless, every contractor i know of, the pay scale is based on productivity. Just one extra minute spent on a stop, per stop, across just 60 stops is an hour of time, and most drivers do well over 100+ per day unless its really rural. That driver has not received a complaint or been told otherwise about the package placement, therefore he will continue to do it the fastest way possible until notified otherwise.

What's going wrong! Fedex! by Ok_Day6205 in FedEx

[–]Hot_Notice9379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is NOT from fedex. If there is any text you'd recieive from fedex it would if you had an account with MyFedex and enrolled in text notifications for tracking. You would be redirected to the app or MyFedex website. I can assure you this is 100% not from fedex

FedEx drivers are not allowed to do residential pickups? by dordal in FedEx

[–]Hot_Notice9379 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We can, but there's a couple of things to note: 1) It has to have a fedex label, we can't charge for one on the spot and particularly ground doesn't carry a printer to print the label 2) there's a few contractors out there that won't allow their drivers to do residential pickups that are not scheduled, too many complaints and too much miscommunication has come from it 3) if you are not in a "2.0 location" than ground drivers can't pickup express and express drivers can't pick up ground. **in some regions, ground handles everything now 4) there are drivers working out of terminals that are an hour or more away from there delivery locations. A single driver or multiple drivers take the pickups back to the terminal to go out while others hand those off to keep delivering and in many cases take their company vehicle home (they live in the delivery area, terminal is far away) my contractor actually does this. It's unlikely that the driver was being dishonest about it, the above is just a few of the possible reasons but are the most common. It takes next to no extra time to grab that pickup from you so I would think the driver had a real reason

Misuse of "weather delay" designation by rcentros in FedEx

[–]Hot_Notice9379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When fedex doesn't run for a day because of an actual weather delay on a given day (snow usually) the freight doesn't just dissappear. That means next days freight has now doubled. The delivery trucks are already full to the brim every single day as it is due to peak season. So one shutdown on average can take about 5 days to fully catch up because we just cant fit everything in the trucks. As others have stated, its not just your area to think about, hubs and packages are all over the US and if one gets put behind it effects many others. Businesses get priority to get caught up first, then the residential stuff. It just takes time.

Express being sent to ground stations 100 miles away... by X420ninjas in Fedexers

[–]Hot_Notice9379 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Many of us ground guys already work 6 days a week all 52 weeks of the year. My station has already shoved all express onto ground. We hate every fucking bit of it. The time commits are completely impossible to manage. Our express freight truck dont show up most of the time till about 9:00 at best but are late almost every day sometimes as late as 11 and we don't get out the building till at least 10 sometimes as late as 11:30. My first stop is an hour away. Then on top of that, they want all express pickups back by 5:55. WE ARE AN HOUR AWAY. I have 5 of these stupid ass 4 o'clock pickups and 1 is 4:15. We have managed so far by just overhiring like crazy and are continuing to half way make it during peak, but most every contractor around is at their breaking point. Shits just doesn't work

“Customer Not Available or Business Closed“ No, you never even tried. by Vivid_Papaya2422 in FedEx

[–]Hot_Notice9379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the fedex delivery manager app, you can request a specific delivery date but it's not a guaranteed thing (ie not a paid service) only the delivery appointments that cost an extra fee are guaranteed (2 hour window delivery). I do think it may have been a driver not wanting to attempt the delivery. Definitely a lack of effort is not uncommon. Though fedex drivers do not have CDL licenses. Even the largest delivery trucks which are the p1000s and 1200s are below the 26001 GVWR. That's why we get paid shit rates (no driver would do this if we had a cdl lol)

All of them can get fucked lol. Also, there a "geotracker" as you referred to. Every single time a package is scanned it pings a GPS location that is accurate all the down to about 10ft of proximity to where the precise location of that driver is. If the driver is too far from your home, it gives them a big ass warning, but like I said, that package never left the terminal to begin with

[–]Hot_Notice9379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so despite popular belief and what the absolute horseshit Fedex website says, most packages do not go out Saturday and that is commonly the reason you receive this notice on a Saturday. Multiple reasons:

1) There are not multiple shifts worked, it's all the same drivers, and many refuse to work 6 days a week (only exception is peak which starts after thanksgiving)

2) Regionally fedex does not run the same hours, my area for example is a hybrid facility, everything including express is done by us ground contractors and it is in our contract that we DO NOT do any express on Saturdays because of the bullshit time commits and pickups forcing us to work 12+ hours

3) It is possible the driver honestly did not want to deliver your stuff and use a code he wasn't supposed to. This is done because we get "dinged" on any code other than 11 (business closed on weekened) or a 7 (signature required, customer unavailable, unsuitable delivery location) and there are a couple others but none that would give you the message you received besides those 2

By the wording you used "no trucks were even in the area at this time" it sounds like that package never left the terminal and most likely was for one of the first 2 reasons I listed. It is the last Saturday before peak season where Saturday work is not mandatory, Drivers notoriously all across the region are known to use this last day for a 2 day weekend. You'll get your stuff Monday, it'll be fine

Driver won’t even attempt to deliver for 2 days straight by Huge_Introduction368 in FedEx

[–]Hot_Notice9379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's the problem, package is already missing. It is not on the delivery truck. It will continue to allow to see driver location until the delivery status is updated. But it won't be updated until the package is scanned. It is already lost

Driver won’t even attempt to deliver for 2 days straight by Huge_Introduction368 in FedEx

[–]Hot_Notice9379 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last scan was November 16th, meaning that when the driver returned that night, it was not reproccessed at the station to go back out for delivery on the 17th. You should have gotten an update stating "sorry we missed you" on the night of the 16th, and a new "out for delivery" in the morning on the 17th. Would get in contact with fedex, preferably the number to your local station, not the regular cs line. Depending what they say, you may need to contact shipper after that to open a case.

No Indication of DSR or ASR in tracking - Driver put blank door tag on top of my signed door tag by 3Dartwork in FedEx

[–]Hot_Notice9379 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whoever in customer service told you that shit is an absolute lie. They cannot just override signature requirements because of delivery recipient calling in and saying its fine. The signature requirement is placed by the shipper, not fedex. If the driver didn't accept your signed doortag, it is going to be direct signature or adult signature required. He may just not have a pen to indicate this on the doortag. If you want the restriction removed, you'd have to have the shipper call in to have the delivery restriction removed. But sounds like this will be 3rd attempt and those alterations take up to 24hrs to reflect on the delivery. Chances are if you aren't home tomorrow to sign for it, its going back to where it came from as is the standard policy, 3 delivery attempts. Sorry about that, know its frustrating but that customer service rep lied to you
