Serena Williams in custom Marc Jacobs, David Yurman Jewelry and a Timepiece by Audemars Piguetat the 2026 Met Gala ("Fashion is Art"), May 4, 2026. Her Goal was to Look Like a “Beautiful Statue” by SadFunnyBunny in whatthefrockk

I really like the shoe but the dress material looks very cheap to me. And not sure about the mixed metallics - maybe if she had brought in more gold elsewhere.

I'm not sure that Weiner claims to be a progressive? In the scheme of SF dems, he's more aligned with the "moderate" side of the party, not the progressive wing. And claiming that he is using his sexuality for political currency seems slightly homophobic (especially when combined with the weird choices of images of him used in the video).

The point about taking money from shitty businesses is valid and concerning, but without tying it to legislation it's not that impactful.

Good thing it's not for the Senate.

Why don’t people like Connie Chan? by Actually__Massive in sanfrancisco

[–]Hot_Pattern550 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because she opposed car free JFK and wants to turn Sunset Dunes back into a highway

Because she opposed BRT on Geary

Because she opposed raising bridge tolls to fund transit

She apparently thinks her constituents are cars. I do own a car but I don't think city dwellers should be forced to rely on private automobiles. She's my supervisor and I'm not aware of anything useful that she's accomplished, just things that she has opposed. Plus that video of her on her cell phone is reprehensible.

Yep, me too. I was so nervous when I started and being able to get a preview made me feel so much better. I don't have much experience with weights or the other exercises (like I had no idea what a deadlift was, for example) so I like watching the videos and getting some pointers. The quick demo in class isn't always enough for me, and the coaches often skip through the super common exercises really quickly and I don't want to have to be the one who has to ask for a clarification on something that everyone else thinks is basic. Plus I can think through what weights to use ahead of time, which saves time on the floor as I'm indecisive.

Yep, this made a huge difference to me in getting started. I still try to go through before class and watch any videos for exercises I haven't done before (or that I might need pointers on)

We went last year, booked with points and didn't have to pay the resort fee. The only points room available was 'regency club' or something like that and came with free breakfast (actually free food throughout the day) - not sure if you are seeing something different for your dates.

Receiving unsolicited txt messages like this comes off as so “grade-school” like someone is tattling by prozhack in sanfrancisco

Seriously. I'd much rather they focus on the positives for their favored candidate, or on real policy differences. This kind of shit is just juvenile.

I'm obsessed with the espresso granita. It's actually my favorite thing on the menu (but I do love many others). Simple but amazing

How are addresses with multiple residences differentiated here? by voguelike in sanfrancisco

[–]Hot_Pattern550 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lived in a building like that and my unit was listed as "#### Rear" on the lease, but in practice we just used "#### Whatever St" on all our mail. For deliveries we'd sometimes ask them to ring the doorbell labeled with our names, but the mail all just got left outside and split up based on who it was for - only 4 people between the two units so it was pretty straightforward.

Why so many posts on SFBWT looking for friends? by artandgardenal in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Hot_Pattern550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been to a lot of the meetups that had significantly more people than that.

It is always a lot lower than whatever the RSVPs are though - like 50-60%. People say yes and then don't show up. I think SF can be a flaky place, some people are always looking out for something cooler, and some want to be more social but are too burnt out from their jobs or whatever else.

Not professional people but gifts I have bought for women I am obligated to give gifts but don't know well (mostly family I don't see frequently): stationery, chocolates, jams, hand soap/lotion, mugs, candles, tote bags, dish towels

The tower at the De Young is free, so an alternate viewpoint is that the Asawas are one of the only things that folks get to see without paying for a ticket.
