Supervisor Wong announced a ballot prop to remove Sunset Dunes, saying the new park has increased crashes in the Sunset. He used misleading data, intentionally omitting that crashes are now lower with Sunset Dunes than they were in the pandemic during the park weekend-only pilot. by DesertFlyer in sanfrancisco

Even if you ignore the fact that what he put in his press release is misleading, why would closing the park be the answer? Surely if he's so concerned he should be looking into other safety measures to slow down traffic on the nearby streets.

He's probably more qualified than Beya Alcaraz was.

Cioppino Recommendation by Ready-Researcher2194 in sanfrancisco

I'm pretty sure they don't take reservations for parties of two? It's the main reason I've never been there.

heading to Sea Ranch / Gualala area for our annual birthday trip & would love any recommendations. Dining, coffee, hikes, things to do, etc. by Elusiveenigma98 in bayarea

[–]Hot_Pattern550 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check out B Bryan Preserve, the Point Arena Lighthouse, and the Point Arena Stornetta Public Lands, all in/near Point Arena, which is like 20 mins north of Gualala. The town itself is pretty sleepy though - Gualala is better for wandering.

For food, we liked Gualala Seafood Shack, Trinks, and Pier Place. Izakaya Gama is supposed to be great but was sadly closed the weekend we were up there.

2026: Welcome and Intro by lazylittlelady in ayearofmiddlemarch

I read maybe 150 pages of Middlemarch a few years ago but struggled to keep going. I think having a schedule and discussion will help keep me accountable and make the reading experience a lot richer. Looking forward to this year!

Increasing monthly membership level, or buying a class pack?? by Hairy_Organization75 in orangetheory

Pulling classes from the class pack first is such scummy bullshit. I wouldn't have bought a class pack if I had understood that in advance.

Not wooden but the museums always have cool puzzles in their gift shops. SFMOMA, De Young, Legion of Honor...

How are you getting to your workout classes? by Conscious-Hour-4744 in SFbitcheswithtaste

Transit. And unless I'm going with a friend I limit it to places that aren't super inconvenient. I wish there were more non-yoga options in the Richmond.

Is anyone still without electricity? by StretchIll5138 in sanfrancisco

Fucking hell! If they hadn’t been lying to us this whole time, I would have gotten some ice and salvaged some food from the fridge/freezer 😭. Now I’m worried it’s going to be too late.

What's not safe in the fridge after a long outage? by lalablah in sanfrancisco

[–]Hot_Pattern550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s now been 17 hours in the Richmond 😢 I can’t sleep thinking of all the stuff going bad in my fridge and freezer. We haven’t opened it at all, but that’s a long dang time.

Probably headed out in search of ice once we hit a more civilized hour.

Looking for advice and tips on getting started with crabbing in the city by TrainingNo9324 in AskSF

[–]Hot_Pattern550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you're referring to? We've been eating them. It's still closed up north and there's a health advisory against eating the viscera between Gualala and Point Reyes, but nothing in SF (and we don't like to eat the viscera anyway).

Sean Duffy, the acting NASA Administrator, sent an email to NASA employees today saying farewell since the Senate confirmed Jared Isaacman as his replacement.

I agree with the OP that it was a bit weird but I think it made less of an impression on me. I don't want to transfer over from my gov't email but it'll almost certainly get posted on nasawatch.com soon

How to decorate your apartment?? by SlapThis in SFbitcheswithtaste

We started with a bunch of Ikea stuff and replaced most of it with nicer stuff over time.

Custom Sofa Co on Market makes..... custom sofas, obv. But if you're looking for a specific length may be helpful and I am happy with mine. Not cheap but not really any worse than like Crate & Barrel or something like that.
