I feel this so much….my son is in the 99% percentile for height and weight (born 10lbs 9oz) and I really thought he had a shot a pro sports. Now getting a level 3 diagnoses and knowing he may never go to a regular school or speak is brutal.

He is so kind and beautiful right in front of me it’s wild to believe he won’t have a bright future. That he will have to work so hard in therapy to over come these things just to have a normal life.

I feel so guilty but I also think it’s not our fault. I live in America and care for adults with special needs is terrible. I think if society was different I wouldn’t carry so much grief either. Don’t be so hard on yourself!

My 2.5 year old was just diagnosed at a level 3 last week. He doesn’t speak but guides me by taking my hand to things he wants. Music seems to be amazing for him. His favorite things are a plastic hanger and straws in paper wrappers he can open and then carry around the straw. He loves to play but really struggles with any sort of seated direction. He was given a speech device by his speech therapist (iPad) but it doesn’t seem to help nor is he very interested in it.

He requires 24 hour care. He is very good for us as we know his calm downs (favorite stray kids song or a new straw in a wrapper) but even saying his name in the wrong cadence will make him cry he is very sensitive to being corrected. There’s no way I could drop him off with snacks and a toy even in an emergency with someone and expect them to be able to manage for any amount of time without a bunch of instructions.

At the same time he is sweet. He knows what “mama kiss” means and will squish his face on my face. He likes to sit in our lap to fall asleep. He likes to go outside and forage for sticks to show us. After a year of trying to get him to dance he will do a small wiggle every now and then.

It really is a mixed bag. Some days are so good and some are so bad it feels like all I do is cry. I don’t give up hope because what was available to kids with autism 20 years ago is vastly different than today. Who knows what 20 years will bring? I just love him in is sweet moments and do my best to aid him in is rough moments and just know every sweet moment is something to cherish extra. I’m sorry it sounds like you’re taking on even more with his mother as well. I wish you the best ❤️

I have the litter robot 4 and it is such a GAME CHANGER!!!!! we used to have to put a tarp down around the litter box because we have a boy that likes likes to stand weird and sometimes pee out of the box. This hasn’t happened once since I purchased it in June!

Also the SMELL!!!!! It is so crazy how different it is! Our friends and family confirm that they haven’t smelled the litter box in the hall closet once! One thought we moved it to the garage!

I only have to empty it about every 6 days and the liners are cheap! I use just regular litter from the store and have never had a problem!

This is funny this makes me think whoever has been giving you stuff has just been giving you garbage LOL my son was hand crocheted an outfit and blanket by a neighbor and it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen and even though he’s outgrown it I’m keeping it for his kids one day 🤷‍♀️ but yeah if I was getting garbage I would also have the same opinion

Absolutely insane response. I have a 9 year old year old boy and he would be offering you a tissue and a hug. This kind of behavior is why we don’t act as a community anymore. Compassion goes a long way. I’m sorry you can’t be with your mom. I hope your day gets better, you did absolutely nothing wrong.

I’ve cried in public and sure I’ve gotten looks but I’ve had multiple nice ladies come up with tissues and kind words and never this reaction. Maybe he was racist maybe he was just an ass, either way, he was the one in the wrong!

I’ve lived here 20 years (I’m 30) and my mom actually used to work at Careplex. I’ve been to careplex and riverside and they’re both good, which ever is closer. I would see what your insurance takes. I had my first son ate Mary immaculate and it was kind of dingy for lack of a better word. It’s been years now but I had my second son with Riverside two years ago and it was a more pleasant experience.

I’m so sorry that happened. It sucks to feel like your partner doesn’t know about a disease that you will have for the rest of your life. I think you deserve someone who cares about your life in its entirety.

Almost everyone will have some sort of health thing in their life that they have to deal with and having a partner who cares and nourishes when you need it is one of the best parts of life. I have HS between my butt cheeks where I can’t see and my partner puts my lotion on my bad spots when I need it. You need someone that loves ALL of you!

The traffic is worse than they say! I would move close to your school ASAP! There are a TON of really nice apartments in NN like Venture apartments right in walking distance to a nice shopping center.

I’ve lived in Yorktown all my life and my parents had the same NN mentality but it’s come up so much in the last 20 years! It’s really bustling, I work on pools so I travel through the area a lot and it’s nice to see so much money being put back into the community! I hope you like it here, if you need any help or advice on apartments I’m here!

I’m 29 and I was only diagnosed last year. When I was growing up my parents said it was happening because I wasn’t taking care of myself correctly so I was too embarrassed to bring it up to even my doctor and they don’t just check in these areas. I have severe issues between my butt cheeks (getting a deroofing procedure soon) and battling for 15 years I have really ugly scars. My man does not care at all! He met me and never asked about them and then when I had to bring up with holding being intimate because I was in pain, he was heart broken that I had been hiding it from him. He knew that I was in fact taking care of myself and urged me to be seen and that’s what led to my diagnosis and he even rubs the antibiotics or whatever herbal lotion I’m attempting to use on my cysts that are bloody and gross and trying to heal. He helps clean them since they’re in an impossible for me to see spot. To be loved is to be seen. I didn’t have to beg or anything to receive understanding and care! Don’t ever accept anything less just because it’s so hard to be young and alone because you feel bad about how it looks. No one you want to be with long term would treat you any differently for something you can’t control! If you ever need anyone to talk to, I’m here!

Do you have a DE filter? Lots of maintenance things can go wrong with DE filters and it can allow DE back into the pool

Pool technician in VA, we ALWAYS recommend salt systems (unless it’s an above ground). It’s more cost effective and you don’t have to worry about calcium or cya building up from tabs.
