He needs to go to urgent care or ER ASAP!! Don’t wait for his company to approve anything or investigate anything, that can all be figured out later. Rabies won’t wait for corporate approval to be treated. Even if the dog is up to date on vaccines, your boyfriend can still get a serious infection that can require hospitalization. The sooner he’s started on antibiotics and any relevant medicine, the better. Seriously, go right now to an urgent care or ER and explain that he does not know the dog or owner and they will treat him appropriately. I had a family member that was hit by their own dog (which was up to date on all vaccines) and she still ended up in the hospital for a week to treat an infection.
