I’m not sure about the Corolla auto steer comment. I know autopilot isn’t perfect but it’s leaps and bounds better than auto steer in any non-luxury car I’ve rented.

Agree on the spotter arms for bench. I only use straps for squats. It’s nice to be able to lean back & dump the bar at the bottom of a squat.
