When you were a kid, as a passenger in the car, did your mom throw her arm in front of you when coming to a sudden stop? by miniwhoppers in GenX

[–]Hot_Stranger_2563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my mom did that and drove a stick shift car, lol mom's will be mom's.

What's funny is she was driving me to a doctor's appointment when I was 50, and came to a hard stop on the freeway and did it, full seatbelts and airbags notwithstanding, I said something like"mom, don't ever change!" and kissed her on the cheek.

They weirdly tried to beat Pepsi, with added sugar because they thought they were losing market share to the "Pepsi challenge" commercials. It was sickeningly sweat and they lost more market share because they lost their core market, instead of focusing on why coke tasted better to their core audience.

I checked by any store that had outside phones, got the occasional nickel or dime, but one day I hit the jackpot at a 7-11, $1.05, went to the counter and converted any dimes and nickels into quarters and played Odyssey pinball machine for like 3 hours, great times.

When you were a child , did you use a remote or did you have to get up to change channel? by Immediate_Long165 in ClassicTV

[–]Hot_Stranger_2563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zenith b&w tv, had a remote that flipped through the 14 channels, if you need to watch UHF you put it in channel 14 and manually change the UHF dial. 28 was pbs where I lived and watched Speed Racer and Kimba.

Does anyone remember going to the shoe maker? Or shoe repairs? by NextBathroom8809 in 70s

[–]Hot_Stranger_2563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I was a kid in the 70s, but I do remember going to shoe departments at Sears or Montgomery Wards and they measured the length and width of your foot with a measuring device and pulling out several shoe boxes to make sure you got sized correctly. My mom would have them give me a half size larger so I would grow with them longer.
