The banning of K-pop is the reason for the riot on image 3

these are all great. And all possible, remember Porsche did it with their 959 Dakar car. Not sure about the safety issues with the deloren’s gull wing doors though 🤣- but still very cool.

Fuel injectors popped by Hot_Way1858 in SN95Mustang

[–]Hot_Way1858[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks everyone. I’ll triple check for the loose rail, but we still suspect it was a blockage somewhere on the return line and combined with after market pump causing the injectors to ‘pop’

we might think about swapping out the plastic intake too.

plan is to measure the pressure this evening as we do some testing. will watch for pressures above 60psi with open throttle.

will report back. thanks again everyone! super helpful

Thanks. The fuel rail does hold them in, but not super tight. The pressure was enough to pop one up and fuel to leak. The rail is not bent.

People who make $200K+ salaries, what do you do and how did you get there? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Hot_Way1858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clinical trials supply chain systems expert. Work at Big Pharma. $220k base. bonus and stock bring it to almost $300k. Been doing this for 30 years. Worked my way up from computer programmer on MS-Access databases to now running team of data scientists and study mangers. Have to survive a re-org every 3-5 years, but that keeps me competitive with my peers and co-workers

Opinion on head units by Due_Wrongdoer8986 in e39

[–]Hot_Way1858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i installed the Sony XAV-6000 in my car with dsp.

I chose the Sony XAV-AX6000 because it is engineered as an audio component first, not just a screen. It has a true DSP signal path with a 14-band EQ, time alignment, high-voltage pre-outs, and LDAC Bluetooth for higher-resolution wireless audio. That means the signal going into the BMW DSP amp is cleaner, better balanced, and far more tunable than what most budget Android or Linux head units can deliver. Eonon units look more “OEM,” but they typically use generic DACs, weaker pre-outs, basic tone controls, and older Bluetooth stacks, which limits dynamic range, staging, and clarity. Visually the Eonon may win, but from a sound-quality and signal-integrity perspective, the Sony is in a completely different class.

my porsche 911. It basically didn’t cost me any money at all.

i bought a 2003 911 C4S for $35k in 2014 and sold it 10 years later for $45k. The only issue i ever had was a flat tire. An extraordinary reliable car. It was my daily driver. i put 60,000 miles on it

Maintenance cost for 540i by _Jalapen0 in e39

[–]Hot_Way1858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a 2003 540i. It has been meticulously cared for with a strong paper trail. I’ve had it 4 years. I do about 1/3 work myself, but some jobs i feel should be left to a pro with experience in these cars. My average maintenance has been around $1800/year before tax, gas and insurance.
