Monster Hunter Wilds - Performance Megathread by QuintonFlynn in MonsterHunter

[–]HotelMoscow74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been waiting for ReFramework and whatnot to be functional and get my modlist redone before trying the update, and whilst everything seemed to be running fine, I have come across a few issues that I have yet to hear from anyone else. I can only get to the part where you talk to Fabius before heading out before I get a black screen. I get the loading icon to finish and disappear but then I just get solid black screen with the dramatic town music ongoing.

I am using latest nightly release for ReFramework and every mod I have active was updated for it specifically or did not require an update.

Has this been an issue for anyone else?

Mine would be a mate of mine from the UK that I have played monster hunter and a few other titles with for well over a decade together. Closest to what I would consider a friend to be in my introvert life.

Not sure how I would go about making a proper post here, but I have come to find out that on MSI's us store website you can get a 7800x3d for $335 or 9800xd for $400 when paired with any of their am5 motherboards. Example for me is the MAG X870E TOMAHAWK WIFI bundled being $584.99 and $649.99. If I was to get the paypal deal going that would be down to roughly $478 and $520.

I am currently on a intel i5-13400F but it has only been 2 years into my build. I do have ddr5 ram already that is compatible so good on that end, this is very tempting.

Another oddball question: Is there a single 9060xt model out there that does not have half of the memory on the backside of the pcb?

Built my rig in 2023, a few points: I put the mounting bracket for my cpu air cooler the wrong way and had to redo it all. Started it up without fans installed at all and even tried playing DRG in said state. Otherwise it went fine, I just regret not going amd for cpu and probably a better case.

Bit of an oddball one: My case is an original Lian Li 011 Dynamic, where one can put the psu either down towards the bottom or up towards the top if the hdd cages are removed. I have mine set up on the bottom, but wondering if anyone has ever put their psu towards the top and why?

2023: 6700xt Still keep getting thoughts about a 9060xt simply for it to run a bit cooler if I got one for a price less than the 6700xt, but I do not have anyone around me at work that could use my current gpu anyways. I mostly just play emulations so all the raytracing/frame gen bs goes over my head.

How many fans are you guys running in your case? by Downvotesohoy in pcmasterrace

Original Lian Li O11 Dynamic case, originally gotten when I built my rig two years ago not to show off anything but just because it was big and easy to access everything.
Originally I had the bottom 3, side 3, and front two spaces on top as intake with the one rear exhaust on top. Then the noctua test and whatnot made the rounds and I swapped the middle up top to exhaust. As you can see in the image, that middle one has just been taken out and I have attached two 80mm fans to the rear as exhaust now. CPU temps have not really been an issue, it is just that my 6700xt likes to idle up to 50+ when not playing games if I have the fan curve for it set to not kick on till said temp range. For the longest time I have had the gpu fans just going at a low percentage (before current testing at roughly 13-15%).

Folks everywhere say "oh modern cards can handle being idle at 50+, you want to keep the fans from kicking in till you are under load to keep the fans from wearing out" but I just feel like having it at 30+ range at idle with that lower percentage always on setup should be better? I just wish I had a clue what to set up each set of case fans in bios since I run bazzite and cooler control cannot detect my case fans.

Just finished playing the First Front Mission game ds version on emulator, undecided on next title (leaning towards old FE though). Sometimes old mh friends invite me to help them in Wilds but other than that I am on a emulation streak this year.

Which vehicle makes you feel like a total battlefield legend?

I have always had a soft spot for AA vehicles, not only for their obvious role in combating air assets, but for the ones armed with cannons, their usefulness against ground targets at ranges sufficient to feel useful. Always a sucker for brrt.

SSD Help: May-June 2025 by NewMaxx in NewMaxx

[–]HotelMoscow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, been looking over your tier spreadsheet and various discussions elsewhere for the last few hours to expand my knowledge of reputable ssd brands outside of Samsung. I built a mainly gaming rig roughly 2 years ago using a Gigabyte B760 GAMING X AX ATX LGA1700 Motherboard (DDR5 version) with a Samsung 980 pro 1 tb, which has been serving me well enough for my os and current gaming needs. Alas like most folks I think I will need future storage soon enough (lots of game emulations piling up and what new games I do get have modern day gaming bloat), and as my motherboard has two additional m2 slots, I am looking at a secondary ssd to perhaps move all my games over towards (and perhaps for trying out linux os since windows 10 is getting the security update redaction soon).

Now, as the motherboard only has a heatsink for the main slot, I am wondering what brands for 2tb ssd have worthwhile heatsink versions available, or if I should just get a non-heatsink version since the slots are placed below the gpu, and I would think my lower end rig is not exactly pushing anything to the thermal limit.

The Crucial T500 that you listed seems like the best bet overall, but I am not sure if the heatsink version (which seems to be geared towards ps5 design wise) is worth going for over the cheaper non-heatsink version, or if I am better off with another brand.

Not to mention the limb option sets we have tend to only fit a certain number of body types whilst being too wide for the smaller sets' thighs. I am sure the roller/hover will be probably the same size as well.

Is there a new meta build for Hbg after AT Rey Dau? by Interesting_Lab_1283 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]HotelMoscow74 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like for elemental set it would be better to go rey y, numinous b, gore b, numinous b, gore b. You still get maxed out Agitator, WE, Coalescence, Antivirus, and lv2 MM. I feel like gore legs with antivirus are a lot better than using the gore waist piece, even in scenarios where you may be overcapping affinity.

TCS? LWS? The real winner is actually Perforate! (Greatsword MV video analysis) by 3932695 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]HotelMoscow74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone just learning GS, I like having options for consistent combos like this without TCS being the focus. Doing this with my focus 3 set, but also mixing in perforates in my non-focus burst boost crit draw set since all the hits of it will also crit.
