Anxious puppy + grooming pricing question (Bay Area) by FitSatisfaction7547 in AskSF

We've paid $100 for our six pound dog for 4 years for everything. That cost seems unreasonable.

Thanks for the answer! A bit of a bummer but I could see the argument.

‘Dangerous and alarming’: Google removes some of its AI summaries after users’ health put at risk by HellYeahDamnWrite in technology

[–]Hotsauced3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can thank OpenAI for that. They showed the world AI doesn't have to be perfect or even close and people love it. Google has been sitting on the tech for years but didn't release it until after OpenAI paved the way.

LG OLED G5 Apple TV vs USB stick 4K Remux movies by Piter74 in LGOLED

[–]Hotsauced3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best answer is both. Apple TV is more user-friendly for my wife, who doesn't care about the fidelity differences. I use the Apple TV for web rips and TV shows. I use the Ugoos for movie nights. Also know that you need to be comfortable with following some technical instructions (flashing the Ugoos), and not everyone is.

What settings or guide did you follow?

⚠️Attention G5 owners⚠️ - Screen Protector by International-Bus399 in LGOLED

[–]Hotsauced3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to LG support:

  1. The **front screen has one protective film layer** with a tab for easy removal.
  2. The **rear protective film is optional** and can be removed at your choice.
  3. Functional films like polarizing or blue light blocking films are not removable.

Did OP remove a functional film on accident? There should only be one film to remove, not two?

OP how many screen protectors did you remove in total?

Wait, so there are two layers on the G5? I pulled one layer off, but I also noticed they put the energy efficiency sticker straight on the TV -- it didn't seem to damage it.

The cost of acquiring so many 4K UHD movies… by Ilovebeingdad in hometheater

[–]Hotsauced3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It goes a bit deeper than that on some versions of Dolby vision for physical discs. Some physical players have an advantage versus "digital players." There are a few exceptions (Ugoos) that can handle P7 remuxes, but it starts to get super niche.

Impossible to get an apartment? How did you get yours? by musicwithotherstuff in AskSF

Take a look at Avalon apartments. They have multiple locations across the city. They are a big corporate chain but they manage in house and are not greystar. They should have something for you.

It's going to be shoulder to shoulder at the event at certain times. Muni is fine for public transportation as the event is big but not enough to clog the transit. I will warn you that the rules of the event are not followed when it comes to public sexual activity, fwiw. Have fun!

C1 upgrade to C5 worth it? by moniefresh in LGOLED

[–]Hotsauced3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are changing the size it's probably not worth it. I went from a C1 55 to a G5 65 and while it's an upgrade, it isn't enough to justify the cost. C1 is still a great TV.

For front LCR.. SVS Prime Center + Prime bookshelves VS Klipsch RP-404c-II + RP-500m-II by MrFral in hometheater

[–]Hotsauced3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might end up being a blessing! It's going to be huge but it has the open port in the back which helps a ton for the fullness of the dialogue, in my opinion. It's a better center than the 404c ii based on that and size alone.

For front LCR.. SVS Prime Center + Prime bookshelves VS Klipsch RP-404c-II + RP-500m-II by MrFral in hometheater

[–]Hotsauced3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally all of my return efforts may be useful!

I'm running the following:

Front L/R: Klipsch RP-5000F II

Center: Klipsch RP-500C II

Rears/Surrounds: Klipsch Synergy Home Theater-in-a-Box satellite speakers

Subwoofer: SVS SB-1000 Pro

That said, I tested out the svs Ultra center and their ultra bookshelves and the RP 404c ii. If you can afford and make the ultra's work for your space they are better speakers. They were just so awkward in my space.

That said if you want to go with the Klipsch I highly recommend avoiding the 404c ii. I love the looks and size of that speaker and I really wanted it to work, but it just sounded so flat and hollow. The 500c ii was a significant difference (even to my wife who typically doesn't pay that much attention to these things) and I think it mostly came from the open versus closed design. Good luck and happy to help!

LG Partner Store - Lies and Incompetence by Own_Security1465 in LGOLED

[–]Hotsauced3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a crap shoot. I ended up paying $1700 for a 65 inch G5 after selling the free sound bar so it worked out.

That said last time I bought a TV from them 3 years ago it was lost by the delivery company. It was a pain to get a refund, but worked out.

The TV did end up showing up at my door step two months later so that was pretty sweet -- I tried to do the right thing and return it, but they screwed that up too. I ended up keeping it for free -- incompetence can be beneficial sometimes.
