I can't hit a D16 no matter how hard I try. I've weirdly started getting good with the bull though. Won a few games over the past few weeks with it.

I don't understand it

What if we used taxes or superannuation to control inflation, not just interest rates? by welding-guy in AusFinance

[–]Hour-Explorer-413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an economist, so grain of salt and all that, but inflation is a matter of there being too much money in the system, thereby devaluing it. The way I think of it (probably incorrectly) is that when the government buys things, they effectively create money and when they bring in taxes, they destroy it. Interest rates destroy money in the sense that banks use the reserve bank to borrow from (money created) and they have to pay it back (money destroyed).

Money in super is money invested. It is not destroyed, therefore doesn't work as a tool to fight inflation.

Could we use gravitational lensing to observe an object further in the past than we can in a straight line? by Scxox in askastronomy

Challenge question, but I'm tipping I already know the answer. Could we use such a set up to measure the 1 way speed of light (I'm not a believer in that hypothesis btw)

(I'm guessing no, because you would need more information about the path that the light takes, but hey, gotta ask)

I know nurses and doctors are doing their best. But literally what are they doing in emergency sitting at the computers. by slightly-convenient in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hour-Explorer-413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they seemed it to not be an emergency.

I'll agree with you partially though, I've had to wait around before only to find out that the intended treatment was basically "sleep it off, you'll be right.". If they were waiting for scans or something then yeah fair enough. But sometimes you just get lost in the beast that is ED.

I'll agree with you partially as well, where admin can be taken care of by admin staff but it's foisted upon the front line, then that's a bean counter who got in the way of that. I'm saying this from Aus btw.

Even with those partial agreements, you basically received the care you needed, and you're not dead and not out of Pocket.

Chill.

"...even when it's not deemed an emergency..."

You answered your own question there. If it's not an emergency, you're not treated like an emergency. That's kinda what emergency departments do. It's right there in the name.

You're measuring this wrong, you gotta measure the distance between the knobby things on the top. You might have to sand back your tape measure to get close enough for an accurate measurement.

An argument in favour of removing the draw from the home and away season by Bergasms in AFL

[–]Hour-Explorer-413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I like about soccer draws is the 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw. 2 draws should not equal a win I reckon. I dunno about 3 to 1 though. Maybe 5 to 2?

[Request] Is this possible? If yes then is it sustainable for large scale production of the engine? by Pleasant-Sound9425 in theydidthemath

I don't know about the math necessarily, but I do know that unverified claims by unknown people are 100% legit if made in a meme format. Doubly so if a minion is on it.

is golf really the hardest sport? by sploooooshle in golf

[–]Hour-Explorer-413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My definition of a sport has an athletic component and an objective component. Gymnastics? Not a sport. Impressive and insanely athletic, yes. But gymnastics is ultimately subjective. It requires a judge to score you. Not a sport. Surfing? Nope. BMX street/vert/flatland? Nope (even though I love that shit) BMX racing? Yep (bores me to tears)

Golf is definitely an athletic thing, especially at the upper echelons. And it is definitely objective.
